***Official 2020 Georgetown RD Applicant Thread

And Georgetown does not have an admissions office email too right?

@c0llegeb0und Thank you!

@ClassOf2020x They might, but I found calling much easier instead of waiting for a response or wondering if they got your email. But definitely use email for your rep. Any time!

@Cosmopolitian13 yo i have the same stats as you!!! lol I’m a horrible test taker with great grades in the IB program, awesome ec’s, and essays. Standardized tests will be my very weak point in the application haha I feel your pain! Best of luck to you tho!! ( deferred EA as well and didn’t take any subject tests )

Hey guys! How do we check our online application status portal???

^^there is no portal

@beaglee105 Yea georgetown is something of a hold out, they ONLY notify you of admissions via mail (or if accepted, they’ll also call you a few days after the letters get sent).

@c0IIegeb0und Do you know if this is true for people living outside the US?

@Aralis I have heard that international students are notified online via portal, at around the same time that domestic students should be receiving their letters. If you have more questions, call admissions, but you’ll probably get more info in march

Do you guys think that decisions are still being made? Or are they about wrapping up now

I think most decisions are still to be made. They still have more than a month

Relative to the other schools, how hard to get into is SFS?

@columbhiroller Sfs is the hardest school to get into

Does anyone know the exact date decisions come out?

@gracein19 - Q? If one wants SFS (Diplomacy) isn’t a better choice to go to Harvard / Princeton / Johns Hopkins and then graduate at Walsh? Than do all 6 years there?

@yalebound2020 I’m sorry, but I don’t have an adequate response for that question. I’m a business major.

However, at that caliber of schools, no matter what school you choose, you really can’t go wrong. Attending any of them is an incredible honor and privilege and would look smashing on a resume. Yes, you could argue that maybe Harvard undergrad and then Georgetown postgrad would be a better combination, but that is a personal decision. So much of college is based on your personal perception of the college & how you fit in with the vibe. For some, it’d be better to stay at SFS all 6 years, and for others it’d be better to attend 2 different schools.

No matter what you decide, I’m sure you’re off to do incredible things. Pick the school that speaks most to you, and you will thrive

@Rachelemma I heard they will come in the mail around April 1, but I’m hoping that we’ll hear sooner than that

@DoubleD11 I was browsing last year’s RD thread and it looks as though applicants were receiving their decisions as early as March 27. I’m crossing my fingers that the same thing happens this year!

Does Georgetown only notify via mail and not online?

@ClassOf2020x Yeah, only by physical mail unless you’re an international applicant.

@columbhiroller I also looked back on the thread and it looks like the earliest notification was March 27, like you said.

Some of last year’s applicants also reported getting a phone call or two before they knew that they had been admitted via mail.
