Georgetown Admissions Ambassadors will call accepted students when their letters are expected to arrive, I got a call the night I got my letter but due to postal variations, some students may get a call before they receive a letter. Additionally, as the phone calls are done at random over several nights, some may get a letter well before they get a call. Either way, you’ll know within the span of a few days
Easter is the 27th, so Georgetown will be closed on the 25th. Thinking the letters may come first.
@c0IIegeb0und So you were notified that you got accepted already?
Georgetown is on spring break and it’s good Friday and Easter right when decisions to be mailed. Does anyone have insight as to whether they will send letters earlier.?
We don’t and can’t know their plans. We’ll just have to be patient.
Does anyone know if Georgetown acceptance letter is standard size letter or 8.5’ x 11" ?
I definitely do not wish to start a rumor here but a student we know at Georgetown with some ties to admissions said that letters were actually mailed yesterday (Thursday). This seems somewhat incredible. Can anyone comment on the veracity of it?
Very very dubious. They have been saying letters will arrive by April 1 for months. Also, they always Tweet when letters go in the mail. Last year’s Tweet was on March 27. Nothing yet this year
^^can anyone confirm outright that? Anyone know gtown students or feel like calling the admissions office?
do people think they will send the letters out before or after the georgetown easter break?
Because easter is March 27th this year
Georgetown says they will mail decisions in time for students to receive them by April 1. They mailed them on Friday, March 27 last year.
The Admissions Office appears to be closed on Good Friday, March 25, this year - there are no tour sessions available on their calendar that day. So, potentially, they could send the letters on Thursday, March 24. However, there are sessions available Monday, March 28 - implying the Admissions Office is open that day. Note that administrators do not get all the same holidays/vacation as students.
Since they will be in the office on Monday, March 28, they could very well mail the decisions then, which would still allow sufficient time for them to arrive by April 1.
If I had to guess, I would think they would mail them on March 24, but that’s just a guess. That would also give them 3 fewer days than last year.
I think the friend of a friend Internet rumor about the decisions being mailed yesterday is highly unlikely.
@Teqtwo That is the standard letter size in the US. (Assuming you mean 8.5 inches, and not 8.5 feet.)
Yes meant inches and meant to say envelope. Is it a big envelope?
That I’m not sure about. I’d look on last year’s thread. @Teqtwo
@DoubleD11 I was accepted REA, so yes I got the letter and the call and all that Jazz. The acceptance letters and other letters are all in standard business envelopes. Also, I found out on cc that there would be a blue paper in the acceptances, I think that was the financial info paper. When I opened my mailbox and saw the letter, I could see the blue and started crying! Wishing the same for all of you:)
March 24th may be accurate - if they mailed them after Easter, things could get messy.
EA admit here answering a few questions I saw…
- For domestic applicants, you find out via mail. Generally, the letters arrive on or before the date listed on their website (April 1 for RD), but they could arrive later based on geography, weather, etc.
- Both acceptances and rejections are in standard-sized envelopes, but acceptances are noticeably thicker (they have 3-4 pieces of paper, one of which is blue). For EA, deferrals had just one piece of paper, which I imagine would be the same for RD rejections, but I’m not sure what the waitlisted envelopes are like.
- GAAP does indeed call all admitted students, but if you don’t get a call in the first few days after letters are sent, don’t fret. I didn’t get a call until over a week after they sent out letters and five days after I received my letter.
Good luck to all, and Hoya Saxa!
Hello. I’m almost positive Georgetown hasn’t sent anything out yet. I’m a GAAP caller and haven’t gotten any info about dates to call yet. For EA GAAP basically told us the day they put the letters in the mail.
