Official Acceptance Thread

Yeah, I did email them but you get all this fluff. When I emailed them with all my questions they literally restated EXACTLY what was in the first email. Clearly the admissions office at AU isn't a fan of originality of thought lol

Did they just offer you acceptance in the spring, or did they also give you an option of doing the Washington Semester in the fall?

A good percentage of the people on my hall this semester are new this spring, and are incoming freshman who weren't here in the fall, so I don't think it's too unusual and you wouldn't be the only one.

Yeah I was asked to join the Washington Semester and then to be an official student as of Spring 05. I dunno, I just kinda feel like I wasn't good enough to be accepted in Fall 05, which on my opinion is kinda weird because I'm sure that my stats were good enough to be accepted regularly. Anyways, thank you for your comments LG. Just knowing that people coming in as of Spring isn't that out of the ordinary makes me feel better.

I got my e-mail from them just last night.

I received a scholarship for full tuition. I love D.C., but am still waiting to hear from 5 more schools. As an IR major, I know D.C. is the perfect spot, but the thought is lurking in my mind that I can always come for grad school.

I really don't know what decision to make. Any thoughts on D.C., study abroad, or AU opportunities?

hey
i'm an intl and been accepted with a scholarship of 15k....very disappointing, AU is one of my top choices, because of the IR program and location, but alas, not enough money
SAT 1380

flag-bearer
ECs: choir soloist, band vocalist; member of scout organization; a lot of community service

by the way, do they give you scholarships for the Honors program?

any money you get you don't get for being in honors, It's merit because you're so smart you can get into honors. (wish I did)

i just joined this site. i was accepted early decision. i'm from LA and i can't wait to start AU in the fall.

Hey,

I'm actually a student at AU and I "work" for admissions. I give tours, host overnights, calm nerves that parents have, and generally try to tell people about the University. If you have any questions post a message and I'll try to get back to you since I can see most of the college outside my window and I do so enjoy talking to the next generation.

About the acceptance for Spring Semester, you stay at the Tenley Campus (which means nothing to you I know, but bear with me) which is about a half mile from the main campus. It is metro adjacent, and hosts kids for a Washington Semester from other campuses. You would take classes, earn credit and move on to the main campus in the fall, so no worries about falling behind. The only disadvantage is the lack of financial aid for those in the program.

Some background about me, I'm in the Honors Program and am majoring in Political Science. Even though I have about as many political connections as a tree, I've been able to meet the City Council chairperson, the mayor, and get pretty decent seats for Inauguration. Anyway, if you do have any questions, feel free to ask.

Just to add to what john3165 said above about the Washington Semester thing, I'm in DC right now visiting American, and the Tenley campus is like a 5 minute walk from the regular campus, just so you guys know. I would have expected it to be farther away, but it's right there and the AU bus goes by it every 15 minutes between the main campus and the metro station. I'm very impressed with AU, and I'm going back tomorrow to go to a class and have lunch with a few students. I'll tell you more about my visit when I get back and have more time on the comp.
