Official ACT October 26 Discussion THREAD

@Richard

You are overcomplicating it.

Say the midterm average was 100.

100 * 10 = 1000

1000 + 108 (exam 11) + 96 (exam 12) = 1204

1204 / 12 = 100.33333

Class average for first 10 exams = 100

Class average for combined 12 exams = 100.33333

100.33333 - 100 = 1/3

For the midterm one the best strategy was to just “ballpark” it.

Like 3 of the answers were negative which are obviously wrong because it would go up.
The other wrong answer was wayyyy too big.
The correct answer was the only one even remotely close.

@LoveArtForever
Blood is thicker than water. Therefore it has a higher viscosity (resistance to flow). Therefore, it is less fluid than water.

I thought the blood question used air, not water. (Same answer though, blood has higher viscosity)

Does anyone know what the answer to the diagonal one was? I spent much longer on that one than I should have.

@19KLS96
You had to construct an additional triangle for that problem. After using the pythagorean theorem to find the base of the the additional triangle, you use your result and the pythagorean theorem again with the given triangle in order to find the diagonal.

It was a 12l 4w 3h rectangle, right?

Get the square root of 12^2 + 4^2 for the bottom diagonal, then set that to the second power (or just don’t get the square root in the first place like I forgot to do), add 3^2, get the square root of that, and there’s your diagonal.

For the last question on the space passage “Would this be an adequate essay for the early years of space exploration” Yes, experiments yield results b.) missions success c.) No, about Klittinger only d.) No

:( Anyone get form 73F ?

@just4anotherguy - I put no, and I think it was “no, it only discussed one particular mission”

I agree @esai23.

wut was the circle one where the diameter was 4 and the other part of the triangle was one and u had to find the other side

Never mind, I screwed up on this one.

was the answer root15

Never mind, I screwed up on this one.

how can any line on a circle be greater than the diameter

Angled iirc. IMO it makes no sense but that’s the angle that made sense.

Edit: oh wait, I might have used the wrong formula. Hmm. I could have sworn it made sense at sqrt 17.

it was squareroot15

yea i guessed root15 but how do u do it

no idea. but it made much sense
