Official American University Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

I'm not sure if one has been started.

American university officially accepted. So excited!!!

Hi-How long did it take you to get your notification? Do you mind if I ask what your stats were?

Not long at all, I was impressed.
Applied Feb. 27, got a decision March 14
Gpa 3.6
Didn’t submit my SATs @CTransfer2017‌

@Implastick‌ Hey I was just accepted I had a few questions

1.How long after you were accepted did you get your financial aid package? and where did you find it?
2. I have a very similar gpa to yours with 60 credits. Did they give you any type of merit scholarships?

@transferr2014‌ I haven’t received it yet, I was told it will be sent around mid may.
Crossing fingers for now.
Congrats btw

Was it a 3.6 exactly or a 3.6-something? I want to apply to this university as a transfer student in a year or two and am worried about my GPA.

Also do you mind telling me what extra curriculars you had?

Thanks :)

@pologirl13 It was 3.68 to be exact
I haven’t been as active at my community college as I was in high school so a lot of the extra curricular activities I listed on the common app was from high school (I stated that as well)
-I graduated overseas, my high school years revolved around different cultures; I think that helped since my major of interest is International Relations.

I like to think that my essay was pretty good, I did heavy research on essay’s for transfer -this might be a no brainer but state exactly why you want to transfer, don’t trash your current school, say how your current school made you stronger as an applicant.

Sorry if it’s too long, I hope this helped. Stay focused.

Don’t apply to AU unless you are willing to accept crappy financial aid.

@collegebound752 How crappy was yours if you dont mind me asking?

@Implastick EFC of 4,000, american expected me to pay 38,000. All of my friends got ridiculously crappy packages also. One girl has an EFC of 0 (her parents are both unemployed) and they expected her to either find a way to pay 28,000 or take it all out in loans.

Thanks so much for the information-looking forward to hearing back and (hopefully) getting in!

Me too! Got my letter a few weeks ago. Anyone else transferring in as a biology major? American is my top choice as of now, but I’m waiting for the end of this semester to go visit and see how I really like it. Also waiting for the financial aid packet. Why does it take them so long??? Did any of you visit campus and if so, how’d you like it?

I’m also waiting on my financial aid. I submitted my css profile 3 days late so am a bit nervous to get it. What are yall planning to do, if you attend, regarding housing?

I sent my financial aid a week late so hoping hoping hoping, it would at least help me get through.
I live in the area, I pass it everyday on my way to work, I love it!

@transferr2014 - I have less than 36 credit hours so I am [thankfully] guaranteed housing for the 2014-15 school year, but I hear a lot of student live in either the Berks or the Avalon apartment buildings, once they move off campus.

I have finally received my financial aid and can’t complain to much about it and it’s pretty comparable with my state public now. I think American will be the school I choose, I am visiting in the next few weeks. Hope everyone else got some awesome aid!

I’m a 24 year old independent and I was accepted to AU. As an independent, AU covered nearly 55% of my tuition costs through grants and another 30% or so through loans. The rest is up to me. They offered work-study but I have a job and there’s no need for me to work on campus.

@transferr2014‌ How long did it take you to hear about that? I was accepted a few weeks back and still waiting on FA.

@CTransfer2017‌ My financial aid came in the mail about 2 weeks after I got the acceptance package. However I could see my financial aid under the “financial aid award” link on the Myau website like a week before it officially came to my house.

Also everyone I visited AU yesterday…everyone dresses so nice, I felt like a bum walking around in shorts and a sweatshirt. The campus was beautiful and everyone was friendly.

@transferr2014‌ did you get an email with an account or was it the same as your app?
