***OFFICIAL AP US History Thread 2013-2014***

@Signific Probably. You braggart.

@stripedpanda‌ That’s a lie.
There COULD be a DBQ on that era.
not sure about FRQ’s however.

@Signific , yeah it was the 2001 exam. I took it today and got 56/80. I am hoping I can improve it to 70/80 on the real exam though.

Can you guys help me on the dbq, because no one answered before. How many body paragraphs do you guys suppose is good for the dbq? is 3 good? or 4? or 5? How many body paragraphs?

I don’t think you can adequately answer the DBQ with less than 4 body paragraphs.

4 for the dbq all the time
Sometimes 2 or 3 for the FRQ, but often 4 is better

And I have a question about the essay after the dbq. Lets say, show how slavery changed in the u.s between 1800 to 1850.

So I first start by writing how slavery was during 1800. And then after a couple of years to like 1810. And then I continue all the way till I get to 1850.

I know I might sound stupid, but my teacher didn’t do many essays with us.

Hi guys. Is it really necessary to prepare for DBQs/FRQs and multiple choices separately? or you just review the facts and trends required by multiple choices section and take it also as free response preparation?

What if you say things that aren’t true in your DBQ/FRQ? IE, you put down the wrong year for an event.

If there are too many errors, then they will take points off. But if its a minor error, and you make it only a couple of times, then it doesn’t matter.

Can someone please show me what an outline for a DBQ should look like???

What are you guys (or your teachers) predicting for FRQs topics and DBQs?

There’s no reason for you to go out of your way to make 4 body paragraphs. For the vast majority of these DBQs, two body paragraphs are sufficient based on the question. Perhaps sometimes 3 if the question is more complex. But there’s no reason to go for four body paragraphs unless you have a really good reason for it. Two bodies that are quite detailed with good analysis is always better than four bodies just for the sake of four bodies.
