Hey you guys, I’m kind of new to this thread. I got the Princeton Review book, and I’m liking it so far. Do you guys think it is sufficient or should I just throw it to away to the nearest half priced books and go for an REA? Also, about the AMSCO… are you guys talking about the first link that comes on a google search? http://www.conejo.k12.ca.us/Portals/49/Departments/Social%20Science/Palotay/Amsco.pdf

Depends what you’re going for. I think Kaplan and Princeton Review are decent as review/summary material and a solid understanding of them can get you at least a 3 or 4. However, if you really want to make sure you cover all the details to guarantee that you get a 5, I think REA is the most solid bet.

I am planning on buying the REA full access and following there 8 week plan (because I’ve kind of alraedy covered my review of the colonial period and i’m done with the revolution). Do you guys think REA full access is a decent book? Or will I need to buy more? :/

Also I feel like REA Crash Course just doesn’t have enough info

@APDestroyer

I used REA crash for Euro last year, it was the only review material I used, got a 5. I am going to use it for APUSH this year, though I can’t really speak to its effectiveness for this particular course.

Also, my class is at the end of WWI, but our teacher has had us doing assignments on the ate 1900’s-early 2000’s over every break because we wont have much time to touch on it.

Are any of you guys taking the SAT II for US history in May 3rd? I am and I’m really nervous about it.

@EveningSwan I’m taking it in June. I’m not too nervous, since I figure studying for the AP exam will be good review and my teacher is very good.

jumping in here
@EveningSwan i’m debating on doing it in May (i’d have to register late, i was being indecisive) because i’m planning on doing the SAT again in June although that and finals all lumped together is a bit taxing.

in general i’m not too worried about the ap exam, but i’m really keeping my fingers crossed that the frqs and dbq are on material i’m familiar with. i just ordered the amsco prep book although i probably did take a bit too long on ordering it. that and i’m re-watching the crash course videos on youtube which are extremely helpful.
has anyone finished the book already? i have an exam on the 70’s and 80’s tomorrow, and then the final unit is on the post-cold war era. then it’s test prep yaaay.

Ive been slacking off since december when it comes to doing class assignments and reading so i’m a ways behind. Do you guys think that if I read the AMSCO along with the REA Crash course, it would be sufficient for me to get atleast a 4 on the exam?

@Karnier ahh maybe it kind of depends, like i just got the AMSCO today and the size of it is a bit overwhelming. i think you can, maybe try reading chapter outlines as well? i find this website very helpful —> <a href=“AP U.S. History - Study Notes”>http://www.apstudynotes.org/us-history/

Hi, I’m a student in Canada. I’m planning to self-study APUSH. Do I really need to take notes?(Taking notes is going to take forever for me)

Lol, we’re just starting WW2 next week and then spring break the following week. Our teacher will probably make us present the last few chapters.

Anyone else using Enduring Vision? I’m the only person whose actually read the book the whole way through the class.

does anyone else think American Pageant is sarcastic in the good way? Haha, he makes a joke at the end of almost every section

@APDestroyer I love the American Pageant for all the little jokes, but unfortunately we moved on to Modern America for everything after WWI

For those of you that have the AMSCO book, is this: http://www.conejo.k12.ca.us/Portals/49/Departments/Social%20Science/Palotay/Amsco.pdf
the legit book? Or is it just some phony book pretending to be AMSCO?

Oh my.
I’m using AMSCO because I have my AP US class final on the 26th and/or 10th of may.
I’m currently on chapter 9, out of the 36 chapters xD However, my plan is to do 3 chapters a day.
It should be easy since I’m just reviewing the stuff I already knew (so it’s not like I’m learning it for the first time).
AMSCO does a fabulous job at helping me know the concepts really well. It is write in such way that is very understandable. Although I love my class textbook (The American Pageant), it is sometimes difficult to understand some of the information due to the metaphors and such.

Along with AMSCO, I’m also using REA. I think I will be very well prepared.
Guys, we only have 4 weeks so we must DO THIS! :D

@EveningSwan yes, that is the actual book. I checked and it’s exactly the same as my hard copy.
However, I actually recommend getting the hard copy as soon as possibly since I believe that it helps more to have a physical copy over the online copy. However, do what ever works for you.

Oh another note, my class is currently on the Kennedy administration. I must say my teacher has prepared my class very well. The way she handles her class pretty much FORCES us to learn the material (i.e we take 2 quizzes a week; she tests us on one of the questions from our study guide, so we must memorize all 10-15 questions to do well on the quiz).

Hope y’all are having a good time studying~

It is hard to focus on an online copy as you can easily get distracted. My class is currently on the Nixon and Carter administration. We still have four more chapters to go.

Hey, everyone.

I took APUSH and SAT II USH last year. Get Larry Krieger’s The Essential Content, and they will be a breeze. I got a 5 and a 770.

Most of the people who I know and used PR did not get the scores that they wanted. Just a warning. Good luck!

Opinions on crash course vs essential content?

Isn’t AMSCO better than The Essential Content?

How far are you guys in your actual classes? My school does US I Honors and then AP US II, so I forgot almost everything from US I and am freaking out a little.
