Official April 1st Test-Takers Thread

hahahah nm man i saw the best movie today: Inside Man and guess what the theme song is ''chahiyan chahiyan'' its soo krunk and theres this sikh guy whos just hilarious.

I've improved from the low 2000 to the low 2200s, I'm hoping that I can keep my focus and calm. Make sure that you . . .

1) Don't spend too much time on questions.

2) Don't rush questions.

3) Keep the test in perspective

4) Don't become careless

5) Focus, get plenty of sleep, feel good and ready before you take the test . . .

6) Keep calm, work quickly and accurately.

7) Be confident . . . but not overconfident.

I think that tests scores improve a lot if you can do these things as you take the test, it allows you to think more clearly. (I'm trying not to listen to any music the day before, so I don't get something stuck in my head, haha)

yea im trying to go from low 2000's to 2200's, you think those techniques will work for me?

Hahahah, same here. Practice tests have been indicating that I'm anywhere from 2100 to 2240.

Sophomore PSAT 156
October SAT 2000
April SAT ???? (aiming for 2200)

For math, be extremely careful
For CR, kill the choices that aren't supported by passage
For W, beware of the no errors, idioms, and passive voice

The tips from Murasaki are really important!!!

thats pretty good. my tests indicate 1970-2170, my junior psat was 222, and this is my first real SAT but i really want a 2250..

any advice for the essay on the writing portion? i can't seem to get out of the 9's

Use Kaplan's writing workbook. I'll post their SAT Writing tips straight from the workbook tomorrow . . .

The techniques I've listed usually work for most people, but I recommend taking a few practice sections and seeing what makes you work best.

i've done all 8 cb tests. cr and writing exercise book from PR. and made mounds upon mounds of vocab cards.

i really hope that all the sstudying i've done will pay off.

I done 6 CB tests. Nothing last minute yet, but I want to get a few more essays in. I got a 218 on the PSAT, hopefully that will go up. Especially math - if I can manage to eliminate stupid errors.

I took our school's SAT prep course, which only consisted of one day of some strategies and a few practice sessions, and a full-length practice test, which excluded the essay and equating section.

I took a NMSQT prep course some time ago, so I suppose those skills are carrying over, despite my disappointing 214 on the PSAT. With an essay score of 8, my score on the practice test was 2250.

This will be the first time for me to take the SAT, so I haven't really done much actual studying. I've done some practice here and there, but I need to brush up on some vocab and practice an essay, though I get plenty of practice in AP English Lang&Comp.

I'll be working Friday night, but hopefully I can get off early.

Everyone should be sure to get a good breakfast Saturday. Good luck.

Wow. Only 2 days until the SAT.

Gaaaah! >_<

i'm taking it too...im just afraid i wont be used to the test center cuz i took sat twice (one old, one new) at this school, but this time i'm going somewhere else.....

i need at least 2200 but i'm barely on my 2000 ish. nooooo....0-0
taking another practice test tonite and another one tommorow. how's everyone feeling???

Do this with me guys ...Inhale....Exhale....Inhale....Exhale.I...nhale....Exhale....Inhale....Exhale

Just calm down and lets all get a 2100+......Go Ussssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just took a CR section timed and got all 24 questions, and therefore refuse to take another CR section until the test lest I lose my fire.

Math-Go over the blue book questions on this website that are answered so you have a strategy in case problems like that come again

CR-practice makes perfect here, go over vocabulary because the hardest vocab questions aren't about you knowing the definition of the right answeres . . . just the definition of the wrong ones, which are usually easier to define. This strategy has rarely failed me.

Writing-Kaplan is really godly--their workbook is excellent. They tell you the errors to look for in writing so you have an easier time correcting.

I didn't do too much to prepare. I took a few practice tests and went over my answer choices and careless mistakes.

I'm just worried about reading though. I hope they have easy reading passages on Saturday...

All I'm doing now is relaxing and looking over some vocab. :]

Oh well, two more tries after this test.

I've been taking many practice tests, but I don't feel that I am completely ready--just somewhat ready. At the last minute, I am just trying to be relaxed and not doing any pratice tests, and reading only few pages of a book to keep my rymthm. I really hope that I break 2100 on this SAT, so I would have to worry about other things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

coffee and gum. thats all i have to say

my friend got a 2380, and he's a MUCH worse test-taker (lower PSAT) and student than I am.

I believe I can get a 2300 easily.

Ayyy...so nervous. I think I'm ready, and I refuse to do anything tomorrow. I hope that all goes well. If worse comes to worse, I can always take it again in October.

Yeah! Theres still the May (although its like.. during AP testing..), June, and October testing dates...

Haha I'm sooo going to drink lots of coffee. (Or is that bad to drink too much coffee right before the test? rofl)
