With the test date only days away, I thought I'd make a thread where we can share any last-minute tips, worries, scores, past scores, etc.

Personally, this will be my first "official" test. Actually, I took it in 7th grade as part of Duke TIP (1550 out of 2400) but I'm not counting that. On my October PSAT I got a 204 combined (I'm a junior) and am looking to score 2200+ this time around due to studying.

This will also be my first official SAT. I got a 197 on the PSAT, but with an insane amount of studying under my belt, I’ll be happy with a 210+, but really want a 220+. Those last few points always get me.

Good luck to all. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t do so well your first time around. I scored a 2060 on my first SAT (taken in January of last year, actually) but I scored a 2360 on my November SAT in senior year.

Any advice for a guy who manages to get -25 raw score on CR off and on ? -.-
Also, i’m sorta stuck on 700 in writing, normally -6 raw ( 5 mistakes ) and 10 essay.
Math is a breeze, but everything will most likely bring me down to a 2100…

The CR section basically requires a steady stream of practice so that you can become familiar with what responses they want. For improving your overall score just refer to the threads at the top of the “SAT Preparation” part of the forum. I know the “xiggi” method is popular (sorry I don’t know how to directly insert links.)

My practice test score today came in at a 2010 I’m really frustrated. Here’s how it broke down: 680 Reading 690 Writing (10 essay) and 640 math. All bad but it’s the math especially that kills me. I’ll review my mistakes and give another test a go tommorow or Monday.

Well I’ve adopted, or actually copied so-to-speak, that technique which works very well. At first, I used no time limits, but it seemed that i’d finished right when the allotted time would end anyways. Well, the section scores have been getting much better. From about 13/24 right on a section, to 15/24 to 17/24, to 20/24 from 4 practice sections. Then do you guys think that studying off the spark-notes 250 hardest sat words, and off the words given in the BB practice tests itself is an efficient and self-sufficient way to replace Direct Hits, which I hear is amazing btw.

I’m taking the SATs for the first time in January. Got a 192 on my PSATs. I’ll be happy with anything around that, but it would be nice to get 2000+ ^^

It does seem that the method has helped quite a few people raise their score. As far as the vocab books go I have heard positive things about Direct Hits 1/2, although I personally use the older “SAT Word Flash.”

Looks like this week is cruch time. Good luck to everybody with their last minute preparations.

i was getting around 2200-2300 on the blue book tests, but i’m getting 2100-2200 on the online course tests. are the online tests harder? or the blue book tests easy…

I’m ready for this, I hope. Stupid mistakes are my worst enemy, though; need to watch out for those. Got a 240 on the PSAT, hope for a 2300+ on Saturday.

haha i got a book and signed up for the collegeboard sat course online… haven’t done it. NOT that i wanted to procrastinate… but at my school we have finals in january–so i’ve been studying for those and some vocab for SAT. sigh. this whole week is my final week, then the day after is SAT testing… wonderful.

I got somewhere around a 1700 on the SAT for JHU CTY in 7th grade, a 185 on the PSAT in 10th grade, and a 209 for this year’s PSAT. I’m also hoping for around a 2200+, but I’m kind of freaking out right now. I haven’t had time to take nearly enough practice tests, my school’s first semester is ending tomorrow (and I have a few Bs that desperately need to go up), I haven’t slept for more than four hours a night in a while, and ugh - I’m a mess.

Haha Damn. Good luck to you guys all. I didn’t study for like a month for the test and I’m procrastinating the day before the test. And to the earlier question, the score comes out at Feb 10.
