I have very little idea what to make of the news at this point. Maybe they’re using WL for very, very few and are just telling those rejected that they aren’t using any? Maybe they’re only z-listing people, so technically they aren’t using it ‘this year’? Who knows at this point. I’m pretty frustrated that they’re giving conflicting accounts; I wish they’d just get on with it already.

It’s seems fake… Brown started it’s waitlist discussion only after may 5th(the date on which the video was uploaded), but I am not sure of anything any more… I am too confused… haha

Just received a short e-mail 7min ago:
“Thank you for your email. We are still in the midst of our admission season. We hope to notify our waitlisted applicants in the next couple days.
Best Wishes”

I dont think this make any sense, especially according to the former posts,seems both good and bad may happen

I’m an international student and I called Brown admissions to ask how waitlisters will be notified of Brown’s decision the very impolite women on the other line told me that everybody will receive a letter. When I specifically asked about emails she repeated “letter”.

ok, I just logged into my Brown Admissions Decision account. It says:
Admissions Decision currently unavailable. ( a few days ago it said: committed to brown’s waitlist so I think they are on the verge of having the waitlist acceptances released.)
Does it show the same to you ?

Mine showed “Admissions Decisions are currently not available” since may 1st…

@Dan mine too…

oh! ok… so it doesn’t mean anything! yay
I can’t wait anymore… I feel like I am going… CRAZY

Ok…So to summarize the very conflicting messages:

I think we can only conclude one thing: nothing.

Waterblast I have to agree with you!!.. I am starting to think that maybe Brown’s admissions office have been hacked by a few brunonians and that they are trying to mess with our heads … I guess they are succeeding… :-p

Just to be extra clear, here are things that were confirmed directly to me by admissions, not about me as a specific applicant (because I am not an applicant) or via a third-party:

Using waitlist;
Letters mailed out to everyone;
Some acceptances among them (unclear whether '16 or '17)

Also confirmed by admissions: one lady there is pretty unnecessarily curt, whereas most of the others are fairly nice.

I saw last year’s waiting room dicussions and by May 13 some people had already received their answers. The rejected ones got only a letter (via mail), accepted got a letter (some also a call).

@cc9315 will accepted students receive a phone call?

I haven’t heard anything either way from admissions about phone calls. They insisted that every person will get a letter, but that doesn’t speak to whether other forms of contact will be used as well. Also some of the time the call initially goes to a guidance counselor, rather than the individual, so not receiving a personal call is not a damning sign, at least not yet.

My guess / gut feeling (even though there is much ambiguity):

They are using waitlist/z-list for a few lucky applicants.

There are both mails and emails (probably email/phone for those accepted, because they need a response within a week)

Letters have been mailed out already or will be very soon.

If not Brown, where are you guys going? I’ve deposited in UCLA :D

My admissions rep assistant told me they sent all the letters. I asked her if you got accepted, wouldn’t you receive a call or an email? She said no, it’s all by mail. She sounded impatient though. I don’t see why they would not call.

In my letter, it said they aren’t using the waitlist this year.

Boston111 how did you receive your letter?.. Mail/email?..

Do you happen to have the full-text of the letter? Not to question you–I just don’t understand how that could be the case if they’ve confirmed people will be accepted.
