Official Brown Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

@browntransfer99: Wow. I’m sorry about the drugged and forced into holking up part. But the flying sounds awesome! I dreamed yesterday that my boyfriend was seduced into marrying a spy who poisoned him. And then I was in a house that was haunted by a ghost who wanted a kiss goodnight from her children–if you saw her, freaky music played and the house would shake. I saw her through the window and then the furniture started moving and trying to crush me. But there was also a commercial for health insurance? And a monument for South Korea, under which an ambassador was shot and killed. I don’t know.

@kevlarmusicmojo: Fair enough. :stuck_out_tongue: The time difference can only help. I was in China when Pottermore came out–it was 4 in the morning and I leisurely signed up, as opposed to the frantic people in the US or the UK who were up all night. Although for you, probably you’ll have to find ways to distract yourself all day…so never mind about my previous statement.

Will they be mailing decisions like they apparently did last year? I’d prefer to get mine online…

They will be doing both. According to them, they will be mailing acceptance packages the same day they release admission decisions online.

By the end of next week?? Oh my god !! THEY CHANGED THE DATE AGAIN !!!

@mjip11 are you serious…did you call today? I’m really annoyed CMON brown

yup i called, and that is what a lady told me. by the end of NEXT week. i am officially frustrated.

Seriously same. Okay this might be the time where we take advantage of multiple accents because I definitely want to see if that’s actually true

so apparently expedited decisions exist… I just called because I have to confirm attendance to another institution on May 15 and she was like okay so you’re requesting an expedited decision and I was like yes… and she said to call back later today and talk to an admissions officer!!

Omg that would be amazing. Do you need to give proof of your other acceptance before they give you your decision? I can’t wait anymore!!

I think so… Im not really sure how Ill do that besides giving the university name and maybe email brown a copy of my acceptance letter? time shall tell! ill keep you all updated…

did you call, mmb294? also it might also be just the lady who is saying ‘end of next week’. In there afternoon there is a guy on the phone , and two days ago it was him who told me ‘definitely monday’. Also, ‘end of next week’ means later than mid-may which contradicts brown’s statement on the portal. Ahhhhhhhhh

Guys, please don’t abuse the call-for-decision thing they might be doing…some of us actually need decisions by the 15th…

@impatientsally i did this a week ago, and the phone lady told me that an admission officer will call me back. the officer called me back, but only to tell me that an expedite decision is not possible and she suggests that i accept the offer of the other university, and if i later get into brown, i would withdraw.

I can’t call right now I’m at work but PLEEEASE can someone else?? I’m sure that would clear this up

Okay, I am a new poster ( a parent of a transfer applicant who refuses to go on this site) and while you all really are pretty funny, since I thought you all had called too many times and that the vodka, vodka might not go over too well, I called myself. My child is in the same situation with needing to accept/reject 2 other schools by the 15th/16th and one of them will not grant an extension. I had no luck. They have now turned the “extended away message” on and the voicemail box could not accept any more messages. It said it was full. This does not mean I will stop trying–in between work meetings, calls–but that says to me the admissions office is done and if anything, they are waiting for financial aid to complete their work. I will post again if I learn more.

That makes sense. Financial aid is a week behind where it was last year.

Does that mean if we didnt apply for FA our decisions should be available?

@mmb294 i would assume that all decisions will be released at once, but since financial aid took longer than last year, the whole process is likely behind. also, “by the end of next week” is probably (hopefully?) just cushion room for them. i’d bet that they come out by wednesday. of course, this is based on nothing, so don’t take my word for it/hate me if i’m wrong!

Sorry for the additional post. The reason that the mailbox is full is that so many people are calling and they can’t keep up with the messages or the incoming calls.

we need callers and we need them to specifically ask if D-day is monday
