Does Brown send out “Rejection” notice to the waiting people? I thought they would just keep quiet. That’s why it is hard to keep waiting.

What made you think that majority of us would hear the bad news VERY SOON?

I just hope that Brown uses the waitlist. Hahhaha Posterguy is the realist in the group while the rest of us are dreamers. But, I really want to go to Brown, so it’s hard for me to give up this dream.

Sorry for the negativity lol.

@waitling mama
Yes they send you rejection notices. The trend seems to be that rejected applicants receive mail, while accepted applicants receive a phone call/email, followed by a mail.

I’m just going by the numbers, assuming that there are 500 people on the wait list and few, if any spots will be available.

I think the z-list will be used more really. Which sucks because most z-list notifications are in late June/July.

More waiting…

Just made an account for the purpose of taking part in this thread, haha.
I called yesterday and was told that right now they are dealing with transfers. He said only when they get transfers done will they deal with what he called “the issue of the waitlist.” He seemed to think that we will not hear anything until perhaps the end of the month.

Has anyone heard anything new?

This thread is so slow…

I called admissions today. The nice fella I spoke with said that they WILL be taking a handful of students off of the waitlist. He also said that those students will be notified over the next 10 days.

thanks karenkov for the amazing news. I also called and received similar news.

Well that is great.

Did he actually say “handful” or can you give us a better idea of how many will be taken off?

Oh my gosh. Please please please let all of us here get the call.

On a side note, has anyone else had trouble getting in contact with their admissions officer? I tried to contact mine, and he has never responded to my emails.

That’s such good news!!! I’m trying not to get my hopes up though

He actually used the term “handful”. Vague, but at least it means some will be accepted.

Guys I don’t know how likely calls are; I am pretty sure that they did not call anyone last year. They would either e-mail us, or contact us through the mail. As a matter of fact, I was able to confirm that we will be notified of our decisions next week through regular paper mail.

Which brings up the question–has anyone ever received a wait list acceptance through the mail before? For our sake, I truly hope so…

@mchen013 Taking a gap year comes with many challenges. You have to grow as a individual and then portray that through your essays. And as you mentioned before, you also have to keep in contact with your HS teachers and find a way of learning and getting involved with matter pertaining to your future.

Going to China and learning karate is only beneficial if you find a way of tying it into your application as a whole. I don’t know how they would react to you just randomly deciding to go to China; they would need some justification as to how you went about making that decision.

My advice would be to have fun and find a way of continuing your studies without enrolling at another college :)

Okay, well my parents want to send my brothers and I there for the summer to learn karate. I figure if I decide to take a gap year I might just stay there for the whole year and gain some discipline. Other than that, I don’t know what I would do with my gap year besides getting an internship at some company.

Do you have any suggestions? What did you do in your gap year?

@wuantonsoup

They usually call.

Paper mail takes forever to reach international applicants, and you only have a week or so to reply, so they make sure you have time to think about it by calling you beforehand.

I believe people on the west coast also get calls.

not 100% sure

Attention! All decisions of the waitlist are only sent via regular mail. For international students fedex is usually used!

100% sure

Sigh. Did you all see this ?

Well, I guess it was wonderful waiting with you all. This is really depressing news, but it means that our torturous waiting is over!

Sorry I had to vent real quick; however, I have decided that I’ll only give up once I have the letter in my hand. Good luck to everyone.
