Out of state

Hey guys, applied ED and was hoping someone could chance me.
I am an out of state student applying as a mechanical engineer
I have a 4.27 Weighted GPA
I got a 30 Composite on my first ACT and I am awaiting my scores for another test.
I have taken 9 Honors classes, 3 AP classes, and will have taken 5 classes at the local college.
My average hrs/week over the course of 12 months is 1-5 for both work, and volunteer.
I am not sure how much this will affect my chances, but I also toured the school, and will be attended a college fair to speak to an admissions representative.

Thank you!

@will187651 Thanks for your response.

Hi guys! I applied ED and declared Kinesiology as my major. Does anyone know the acceptance rate in this major? Also, who else applied ED for Kinesiology?

@Emily833‌ the projection is 11.7%

Anyone want to chance me? I was post #42 haha, Im just curious

@sdmrer‌ I think you’re right on the edge. You have a solid gpa which will help you the most. I say you have a 50/50 shot which probably doesn’t help you but it honestly could go either way.

@sdmrer‌
I think you have a pretty good shot actually! GC isn’t as competitive as some other majors and the most important thing to SLO is GPA and you’re pretty solid in that area…even though you have lower test scores - you have a lot of ECs and also work experience even though that’s only 10% of your admission, but hey you’re already 10% there! It doesn’t necessarily matter if you do AP/honors it’s more so how many semesters in that area you did so if you did as much English, (especially) math, and science courses as you could then they will look favorably at your course rigor especially if you already have college credit like yourself. There’s no clear answer to chances, but we only have 17 more days until December 5th! (ED heard around the 5th of December last year and latest 15th? Or some into January?) So don’t fret, you’ll know soon enough. If you’re really worried about SAT scores you can sign up to take the December 6th SAT in case you get rolled over into regular decision. I took the November SAT in case I got rolled over into regular because the latest SAT scores they accept is October for ED but can accept up to December for RD. But SLO is my first choice because they’re the only university in the west that has the major I want! Best of luck to you!!! :)

Does anyone know when they’re going to start giving out the results? I’m checking every day haha. So nervous

I know it said By December 15, but how close to that date exactly of they begin?

Do*

Everyone is projecting around Dec 5th, @claireb‌ I can’t wait either!!! :smile:

Thanks for the chancing guys! haha, I can’t even imagine how strong senioritis will set in if I get accepted ED… That should be interesting

So do they send out acceptances all on one day, or do they go by major?

@Seniorit15 Cal Poly does not send out all the acceptances on the same day. They seem send them out by what college your major is in. But even then it can take several days for everyone who applied to that college to hear their results. You could check last year’s early decision thread and see the time spread when people started finding out about certain majors.

I posted earlier but my scores have changed so I’ll post again.

English Major

Math 640 CR 660

CSU mentor GPA 3.71 and unweighted cumulative high school 3.68

My rigourous classes have all been honors english classes and an AP psych class, all with As

I have tons of community service and work hours too, I think 8-10 per week for each.

Female White California Resident.

Chance Me?

Anybody else keep checking their portal just in case they wanted to get all the decisions done before Thanksgiving? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hahahah, yes! I was nervous because the portal was down last night and I was hoping it was to post the decisions. But no luck. @SoCalGirl97 :((

Does anyone know how many people applied to ED this year in comparison to last year? I feel like less people applied ED this year but I could be wrong
