<p>[/ul]General Comments: To those applying next year, make sure you do something for your community, be a leader, not just for college but to build your personality. Not just having positions but having a function in those positions. Be unique, stand out in the crowd. PASSION, DEDICATION, UNIQUE, INVOLVEMENT!</p>

<p>D Waitlisted - CIT CHE

Reflection
Strengths: I think my interest was very genuine and my essays were really unique. Honestly CMU is what I would be if I were a university, so I’m happy that really came through!
Weaknesses: SATs… I never liked standardized tests…
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Because I’m Scottish :stuck_out_tongue: But really, I don’t know… it was so competitive this year I’m ecstatic that I was accepted!! I think it probably is because I sent in an arts supplement (with a few obviously Pittsburgh pictures) as an engineering applicant?
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted: Rutgers, Villanova, Lafayette, Lehigh & Cornell; Deferred early from Princeton; waiting for Princeton and Duke (Thursday! AHH)
General Comments: I’m sooo exicted and about 95% sure I will be a CMU freshman next year!! To future applicants: quirks are really important in the CMU admissions process! So be unique and don’t be afraid to show it!</p>

<p>Accepted CIT and MCS!</p>

<p>Don’t really care about stats, but I am a white female at a competitive private school. I have pretty good grades and have taken a lot of science classes. Probably like the rest of you.</p>

<p>Hooks: I heard my school is a good admission fit for CMU. I am also from an underrepresented state.</p>

<p>Where do we see the results?</p>

Music Composition - 2 songs sung by an award winning Broadway singer
Job/Work Experience:
Volunteer/Community service: Assistant Coach and watch elementary school kids afterschool
Essays: common app essay was about how I started martial arts at age 4 because I was bullied and used martial arts to gain confidence and how I am proud to be different.
Supplement essays were about how Brazilian jiu jitsu is like a language. You learn techniques like words and learn to communicate with your opponent like you were speaking english. In the same manner, I want to learn computer programming languages and code them like I was speaking english (I like computer science but was admitted for electrical engineering i think).
Teacher Recommendation: good
Counselor Rec: good

Reflection
Strengths: SAT scores, ECs and essays
Weaknesses: my gpa… yeah I know you can’t believe it either
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Wasn’t the best applicant, but definitely one of the most unique.
General Comments: I remember as my guidance counselors would laugh when I told them the schools I was applying to. Ambition = success in life. I wasn’t afraid to be myself in my application. I talked about what I loved to do and showed some personality in humor instead of spending hours after school trying to pad my application with dozens of clubs. Congrats to everyone who got in, and I hope that my application is proof that there is more to college admissions than perfect numbers</p>

[<em>] Strengths: Most rigorous courseload that my school offers, great writing and recs.
[</em>] Weaknesses: Grades. I certainly don’t have straight A’s. My extra curricular activities are decent, but it’s not like I built houses for orphans in Peru.
[<em>] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Probably grades and SAT scores. I knew I should’ve taken it again.
[</em>] Where else you applied: Cornell (waiting to hear), Tufts (waiting to hear), Lehigh (accepted), Wesleyan (denied), Swarthmore (denied), Brown (denied ED), Barnard (accepted)
[/ul]General Comments: I’m accepting a spot on the priority waitlist seeing as CMU is my first choice.</p>

<p>[/ul]General Comments:
Yay! It’s a little far, and still waiting on Ivy results, so I’m not sure what I’ll do. Also, why does Pittsburgh point out their GIANT inferiority complex so much?</p>
