OOH, thank you so much, juliusmonky. I could've never figured out by myself, haha. So should it be like first initial last name? And if I change my "alias," is the new alias my NetID too??

This is for my friend. I'm still anxiously waiting for EA elsewhere.

no, uhhh, i believe your NetID stays the same

3 of my friends just got accepted :)

Oh yeah! I am so darn excited! After awaiting impatiently due to technical difficulties, I'm in!!!

*Decision: ACCEPTED!!! *

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2050, 680M, 650CR, 720W
[] ACT: 30 (12 on writing)
[] SAT IIs: 620Lit, 690IIC, 640USH
[] GPA: 4.10w, 3.9uw
[] Rank: 13/603
[] Other stats: I had a lot of clubs that did with political activism and held a lot of leadership positions in them (voter empowerment, feminismfounder & VP, gsaVP). Editor in chief (and formerly copy editor and opinions editor) of school newspaper, editor in chief of literary magazine, writer for outside newspaper. Volunteer a lot during summers. I work during the school year and summer. I do debate (captain) and have placed in quite a few (although I only mentioned one tournament in my activities). (Go Policy!!!) There are also smaller things like orchestra, and also school awards for miscellaneous things.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: I guess they must be good since I got in with low stats. People thought it was nice. I was scared because it was more cute and stylistic than it was personal. (I wrote about how I wanted to deviate from the usual path of those that go to my high schoola UC). I did write A LOT for additional information, I must say! Oh, my short statements were really witty (because really, how must "content" could you get in with 50 words?)
[] Teacher Recs: I suppose they must be decent although I'm sure that the teachers at my school write so-so. Not spectacular, but good enough.
[] Counselor Rec: Very good. TAing for your counselor your senior year is SO beneficial!
[] Hook (if any): 1st generation college goer
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: California!
[] School Type: public (a black holeapproximately 1/3 of our students go to 4 year colleges)
[] Ethnicity: Asian
[] Gender: Femyle
[] Intended Major: Journalism (Medill!) & Political science
[] major strength/weakness: Strength: ECs! That must be what saved me! Weak: SATs (I was one of the few of my friends who protested paying a grand or more to study for an aptitude test)
[/ul]Other Factors: I suppose the lame honor societies we join in high school that require a decent GPA and a club due each semester must help somehow. Oh whatever! I'm so happy! No more college apps to do (I've already done 7)! Oh, I don't know if this made a difference, but since my GPA was a little weak, I sent them my quarter report card, which was straight As with a 4.80 GPA, to try to sweeten the deal. I only did it because I couldn't schedule in an interview because I learned that EDers had to contact NU (whereas RDers are contacted) a little too late.

I wish the best of luck for those that got rejected. And I think the support on this board is so high. Everyone here has been so wonderful when I was freaking out. :D

So, do I HAVE to contact the other colleges to tell them to cancel my apps or can I just wait to selfishly see what I had going for me?

Decision: ACCEPTED

Good question Sneezy. What are people doing with their other applications? Are you waiting or are you writting them a letter?

I still haven't figured out how to change the email, I found the link but then a box pops up with username and password what am I suppossed to put in, I've tried my whole email as well as my NetID with email password but I'm still just not sure! More detailed directions would be greatly appreciated!! Congrats to Everyone who was accepted! Can't wait to meet you next year! (I'll be a School of Communications Theatre Major!)

Uh... I'm emailing and writing letters to each of the colleges, waiting for their confirmation of my withdrawal. At least that's what my counselor said I could dothat or call them up.

I barely noticed I messed up my SAT score. I had gotten a 660 on the Critical Reading, not a 640. Still unimpressive, but I thought I'd point it out for anyone else obsessed with accuracy.

I'm actually pretty proud of my scores because the average SAT score among our HONORS students are about a 1500 (on the new SAT). I must say that I am impressed at NU's ability to look at the whole application, unlike many who just look at numbers. I noticed some people commented on how a lot of the scores are lower than expected. I'm interested to see what others think. Is this a good or bad thing?

It is lower than expected because people don't realize ED is a lot easier than RD which is a different animal.

Maybe you're experiencing technical difficulties, but I just put in my NetID and (email) password.

holla, im having the exact same problem too.

sneezy, do you realize that holla is talking about the NUIT homepage to change the email address alias? he's not referring to the Northwestern email gateway at www.northwestern.edu/webmail. im not trying to be mean, im just sayin i dono if ur aware of that, cuz plugging in my NetID and email pass on the NUIT site definitely does not work for me

Yeah I know. When you click on "Set up email forwarding" on www.northwestern.edu/webmail, it leads you to NUIT (https://snap.it.northwestern.edu/it/mailtools/) and on the left module under E-mail, click on "Change Northwestern email address" and if it prompts with a box for authorization, you use your NetID and (email) password. You are then put in a page with two options. Choose the first one (Edit Your Directory Information) and then you change your email alias.

...I hope these ED results aren't falsely comforting.

It's giving hope of getting in, but like Sam said, RD can be completely different.

But anyway, congrats to everyone accepted and no worries to deferred/rejected. It's not over yet, eh? (my ED school rejected me--know how it feels but you get over it.)

Wish us RDers luck!

Decision: ACCEPTED

Stats:
ACT: 29
GPA: 3.717/4.0
Rank: top 6%
AP Classes: AP Gov't, AP Java, AP Psych, AP Lang, AP Stats, AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Econ, AP Lit, AP Spanish, AP Physics B, AP Calc BC
Other stats: awesome EC's: president, director, researched at UChicago, awesome ap scores

Subjective:
Essays: i thought i wrote an awesome essay
Teacher Recs: effing awesome teacher recs
Counselor Rec: amazing
Hook (if any): 4 cousins, 1 brother

Location/Person:
State or Country: Illinois
School Type: very competitive public high school
Ethnicity: indian
Gender: male
Intended Major: chemisty/psychology
major strength/weakness: i took a lot of AP classes and did well on the ap exam. Also, I worked for the UChicago in a lab and wrote a paper that is getting published. I had a weak ACT score, but that is because of english and writing. I aced the Math and nearly aced the Science, but english and reading ****ed me up. If you take the highest of each section, then I would have a pretty decent ACT score (30s)
