It’s their public affairs program. Just sent the app in. It seems really cool - a great combination of service learning, politics, outside opportunities, and a small cohort of students.

ok that sounds cool. I remember that program but just forgot the name lol. Good luck

Heritage for me too. Grats to everyone.

Are these scholarships of Finacial Aid money? If they are scholarships, did you apply for these scholarships? How did you find out about them?

They are scholarships that you didn’t have to apply for. We got the letters telling us what we got in the mail.

I got Premier last year, but turned it down for Meyerhoff. There’s no definitive criteria for the Premier; in all honesty, I feel there were more qualified applicants last year that didn’t get what they deserved.

2190 SAT (670CR, 740M, 780WR)
AP Bio/AP Chem/AP Physics C/AP Photo all senior year + AP Spanish Lang/AP Calc AB
4.2 WGPA
Eagle Scout
Superintendent’s Honor Roll 3 times
Meyerhoff Prospect
In-state
Plenty of volunteer-work through NHS
NHS, SHS, Tri-M, Orchestra

And that’s all I can remember now. You start to forget your stats quickly in college as they’re totally irrelevant

Has anyone heard of the Centennial Award from UMBC? That’s what I received, and it’s a $12,000/year scholarship for all four years. I can’t find any information about it anywhere though and it’s not listed on UMBC’s website with the rest of their scholarships. Just wondering…

State or Country: MD (Montomgery County)

General Comments: It was disappointing to be deferred Early Action, but I’m glad I was admitted anyways. I was also admitted into CP spring 2011 which is a blow, but whatever. UMBC is a pretty nice school, but is it good for Anthropology? I applied to the Humanities Scholars Program (idk when I hear back from them).
Congrats to all those accepted! and good luck to those who are waiting to hear back!!

How do you know whether you got a scholarship or not?

They sent me a separate envelope about my scholarship maybe a month after I heard about admission. But that could be because I applied Early Action, and they weren’t ready to dole out scholarships at that point.

Did you apply for a scholarship to umbc, or did you just get it?

I believe people who qualified for Merit Scholarships applied by the Priority Nov. 1 deadline for full scholarship consideration and had stats in the 2000 out of 2400 range or 1300+ out if 1600 range with GPA’s of around 3.9 unweighted and higher than 4.0 Weighted. You did not need to apply separately for the scholarships.

Stadeo, I didn’t apply for the Premier scholarship. My understanding is that they give out merit scholarships very mathematically - with like a giant matrix of SAT scores and GPAs. I did, however, apply by the priority deadline - which was recommended for those who wanted to be considered for a scholarship.

Will we still be considered for scholarship if we applied on Feb and thereafter ? I didn’t heard anything about it actually, until now.

It is very unlikely that you will be considered for Merit based scholarships if you did not apply early action which was by Nov. 1
