syrbball-I also have been looking for one, but I can’t seem to find one online? I swear to god last time I was in Ann Arbor I saw one at Moe’s but who knows. I’m sure with bball comin up, though, you should be able to find one at mgoblueshop.com and maybe moe’s. It is bound to be MUCH more popular this year considering how good the team is going to be.

Haha, doubt it. I submitted all my stuff on 10/26, but since we were pretty late to the party, I don’t think we’ll be getting word until late November at the earliest, seeing as ED stretches all the way through December. I hate waiting.

^^ Yeah unlikely. I had everything in by 9/20 and I haven’t heard a response yet. But depending on your stats, you could get a reply sooner than you think if you are STELLAR!

Okay…nvm then.

I hate waiting too >.<

my couselor called in the Michigan admissions office to talk specifically about my situation during the freshman-sophomore year. I lived in the United States until 6th grade. I then moved to korea and stayed there 5 years until the end of my first year in high school (there are 3 years in high school). I only knew english at the time, and I attended a public school in korea, so I had a hard time adapting and learning the language. After the first year in high school, my parents sent me alone overseas to live with my aunt in Michigan and start my sophomore year in high school. The family situation there was NOT GOOD at all; my uncle was out working overseas and my aunt worked all day and came in late at night, my cousin had bad drinking problems, dropped out of college, and suffered from deppression. So growing up in a negative environment with absolutely no positive influence, my academics in school faltered. I know this is partially my fault, because I should have taken responsibility. But with my family in korea, and no one in the house, I was in constant homesickness and had trouble re-adapting to american life (by this time I was more comfortable with korean and its culture).

All I want is the Michigan admissions office to understand that I am a capable applicant of UMich. I have taken 4+ AP classes, 33 ACT and many leadership roles (church youth group pres, Diversity Club pres, many swimming awards, etc.) Will they overlook my terrible GPA and consider me for Michigan?

^^^unless your GPA is <2.8, i would say you have a really good shot

^ Just read this whole thread. I really hope you will get in!

I think 2.8 is stretching it but yes I do think you have a shot because of your situation, as long as UM knows everything. I think they generally see people with high test scores and low grades as someone who just doesn’t work hard, but if they understand that it isn’t the case with you, I think you have a good shot. Good luck!

Yeah good point, If you’ve already applied, I hope you didn’t come off as the brilliant but lazy kid.

so guys, where do i find my umich id number. I don’t seem to see one after submitting all my stuff. or do you get it b4 submitting?

You’ll get it sent to you in about 10 days or so and then you’ll be able to check your app status from there.

hey civomorth. i just found out that after u apply, like about 5 business days afterwards, they send u an e-mail with ur umich id… i just sent mine in yesterday… an hour before deadline (: haha

Anyone aware of how they determine the final HA+, HA, HA-, A+, etc. stuff?

^ If we knew the answer to that question, we probably wouldn’t be here :p

^haha. That’s what qualified adcoms are hired for.

thanks for the help. I was getting worried for a moment, wondering why I didn’t have a number. I thought i did something wrong along the app process.

Hey guys,

I submitted my application on Oct 29 and received my confirmation (UM ID and such) today. And on my application status it says I applied Nov. 2 (the day that I got the confirmation). Do you think I won’t get the early response because it wasn’t before Nov. 1?

No it takes Wolverine Access a couple days to update. Unless the other parts of your app were submitted after Nov. 1, you’re fine.

thanks for the responses guys! I’m hoping my efforts during senior year will pay off!!
Btw, I also have a 3.1ish

^^^ hell yeah man me and you both! hope we can pull this off!
