** Official Class of 2018 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

@JooHyo please stop complaining about you chances… I’m sorry, but if you don’t get into a school, it’s not because of affirmative action, or because they discriminated against you based on gender or in any other way… You just didn’t make the cut.

Witnessed too many AA with my former mates who now in college etc. Yes it does matter one spot can cost yours. Then why you think grotter vs bollinger occurred?

We have too many dirty politicians these days who sold America to the highest bidder. I wont be surprised if anything else occurred. Yes I wont probably make friends the way I act but I just want to play it fair that’s all I ask.

JooHyo get over it All non minorities have to deal with it, you don’t see everyone complaining.

You never know when it’s AA or any other form of ‘discrimination’. People who get rejected (not you, just people in general) will always tend to blame some other factors instead of just admitting that they didn’t work hard enough. It’s easy to say that a college didn’t accept you because of discrimination or some other prejudice… But if you’re really qualified for a school, then all of those factors shouldn’t make a difference.

JooHyo, what are your stats?

Wasn’t affirmative action shot down in MI?

@JooHyoo is somewhere between trolling and idiocy. Either way, he’s probably best ignored.

Looking at your friends is a pretty small sample too, and you are limited to only what they tell you about their stats, essays, etc. You cannot know what the admission office knows about the other applicants. Perhaps they overestimated their ability to be accepted? It is sometimes easier to claim discrimination than look for the possibility that we could have been the reason.

@bayernmunich31 Yes. The state constitution bans AA.

No one should really get angry about AA because even if others have an advantage over you, it’s not how you get in, it’s how you get out.

Believe all you want but AA still exist

True idc about who got in or not
I just want fairness. In some ways I understand how AA is a good thing to those from a low social class making there wway up. But hhell a lot of people riding Benz uses that as an advantage and all this is coming from a minority.

And I have a record of 300+ hours community service and good essays compared to one who did nothing but play with no AP nothing. Already have semester worth of college courses done through working part time to pay off it and I get deferred. Yeah I be pretty mad. Idc what you guys think but to me it unfair.

Hey everyone! I was just accepted into UIUC EA and then Northwestern’s Early Decision, because I was accepted into ED do I have to withdraw my Michigan EA application?

Cheers!

Sorry its no use Complaining here anyways back to topic L.

@Jimmy I think it depends on school policy if its decision then most likely and if binding. Go read it on their website. I know nyu is binding.

@jimmy2014: yes. early decision is ALWAYS binding. you have to withdraw all your EA and RD applications.

So, ruling on Michigan’s AA is put on hold because of an appeal from a attorney. This news was pretty recent, November 30, 2013. Here’s the link to the article: [Michigan Affirmative Action Ban Remains In Effect After Attorney General Bill Schuette Appeals](<a href=“HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost”>HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost)

Also, Congrats jimmy2014! Great Job on the acceptance to Northwestern EA.

@JooHyo, but the application decision is so close to coming out… do I really have to withdraw it, umichigan isn’t binding so I see no reason to take it out unless it’s mandated.
