** Official Class of 2018 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

Then I’m for sure not getting in

Alright, after doing supplements all day, I don’t feel like reading the last 30 pages, anyone care to summarize what is going on?

@samdogg we’re all just freaking out about getting the decision :D

Can anyone chance me real quick? I’m starting to get a bit nervous, just thought I’d get some other opinions:

Essays are pretty strong and personal, as well as recommendations (most are from Michigan Alum)

Thanks guys

I think you should be good!

When is it? I applied and assumed it just came in the mail! I wish I wouldn’t have seen this thread until the morning.

It’s going to come by email and you will get it by the latest: 24th of December. But it could by earlier.

What I said applies if you got the email that you were eligible for EA.

do you guys think they look at last year’s applicants from your school that they accepted (perhaps specifically those who attended) to compare you/refresh their memories?

oh, I hope so… My transcript/rank is a lot better than the guy who was accepted last year…

I doubt they have the time to do that

I would hope they do as it’d be rather strategic in determining whose using UofM as a “safety” and who actually wants to go. I don’t know about you guys, but a LOT of people from my school (OOS) apply EA with 0 intention in actually going.

hi just came back after 30 pages and downloading the app so:
–my physics teacher is friends with an admissions reader and apparently they (as of Friday) were cross-checking the applications to make sure they didn’t accidentally accept/deny anyone. I’m still thinking this Friday.
–I’m applying to COE engineering physics
–all y’all’s stats look pretty good though apparently the supplement essay is particularly important, <personalish> mine are ACT 34 GPA 3.73 umich style 10 APs 5 4 4 4 4 taken thus far 780 770 & like 11 extracurrics 5 w/ leadership + internship in SF woo, my parents and grandparents have all gone to UM and it is my dream baby child <3 we run through the engineering campus everyday and it is so lovely and my first choice (even before getting rejected by MIT ;)) </personalish>
–oh! Apparently with the increase in applicants they will be deferring a lot more, /but/ umich accepts quite a lot of the deferrals so don’t freak too much 4srs
–don’t hate about other people getting in ever pls, especially for umich where applications are historically “random”; stories about 36 4.0 xc captains not getting in make newspapers regularly
–finally, the way I like to look at success is that only about 8% of Americans are unemployed, and none of us are in the bottom 8% of Americans intelligence-wise; everything will be okay with our personal finances… Now let’s worry about the environment kk

That’s probably the worst analysis of the current unemployment situation I’ve ever seen in my life lol. And 8% is huge, by the way.

I know I just joined in the conversation, but good luck everyone!

I have a 31 ACT
4.3 W
3.7 UW

am i good?

Hey Everybody, I have been following this thread for quite some time now and decided that i would tell you all what i found out… so i originally got an email saying i missed the EA and then proceeded to email UMich to find out why… Make a long story short i am considered for EA but received an email that said “it is likely that you will not receive a decision until sometime in January 2014 due to the volume of completed applications that we’ve received for the November 1st deadline.” so the 24th is not the actual last date you could receive a decision

"–finally, the way I like to look at success is that only about 8% of Americans are unemployed, and none of us are in the bottom 8% of Americans intelligence-wise; everything will be okay with our personal finances… Now let’s worry about the environment kk"

In response to this, I would like to quote the 1995 comedy, Billy Madison:
“… what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

Yeah may God have mercy on your soul for having to reply back with that stupid quote and screw the environment. Anyways idk if it will go all the way to Jan. Cause I never received my email saying that and I submitted mine at Nov.1 not long before 12 am and they say I will get my response back by Dec.24. Through email. - deferred to uiuc oos hopefully umich accept me instate.

Lol Futureproof, we’ve already discussed this… If you applied on time, and got a confirmation email saying you’ll receive the decision by the 24th, then you will receive the decision by the 24th and no later than that. But if you applied later on for some reason, and got an email with the January deadline instead, then you’ll probably get the decision later than the rest of us.

I was hoping they released decisions today…
