thanks @Miw140!! Same to you. good luck waiting out these last few days, I know I’m obsessing and checking this like 30x a day.

thank you @APodge

To the college class of 2019 … we are very sorry for this super long thread. If you would like to know when we got results, start from the end of the thread. This may or may not be helpful. Good luck! We know what it feels like.

Can everyone please stop with the “chance me”, it’s overcrowding this thread, post it somewhere else please. The decisions have been made, just wait another few days.

I hate to create unnecessary hype, but UM has apparently released decisions for the arts colleges. I have a friend who got in for “vocal performance and musicology”. obviously it’s a totally different app than LSA or CoE, but it could be a good sign.

Yah my friend did not get a live interview for Michigan, which is basically a rejection last Thursday. The schools are separate.

Just speculating, but I have a feeling decisions are coming out today(wed). My parents are getting paid by the school today when they usually get paid at the end of the month like all other faculty/staff. This is because the accountants are all about to leave for vacations, etc. My parents and I have reason to guess that it’s going to be today. So if it doesn’t come out today, it will probably be Friday. We’ll see though, I hate creating false hype

Can you guys please chance me.

Hey guys. I also applied early decision to lsa but specifically to the residential college program. Does anyone know if notification of acceptance to that program will be in the ED email?

What stats do you think are necessary for Merit aid? I’m OOS and probably won’t get much need based aid. Even if I’m accepted, I may not be able to afford it without a generous offer.

University of half Michigan does offer fair amount or scholarships to OOS students to attract bright students. In staters usually don’t get much because the cost is relatively low for this quality of institution.

OOS student population has risen to near 40% now. I guess the university is after more money. When state funds dwindle year after year, university is now looking for more OOS students to close the gap.

@nervous6 I am

^on the contrary, Umich meets full needs based on CSS for instate students, not for OOS students. If you don’t have what umich defines as need and you’re in-state, it is still considerably cheaper to attend than it is for the OOS students. That said, umich will occasionally give a great package to a high need kid OOS…they just don’t guarantee it.

In terms of merit, it IS perhaps harder to get merit whether you’re in or out of state because the entire student body is excellent. So some students from either category might find it cheaper to either attend a less rigorous school where their stats put them into the top percentages and ergo they get more merit, OR sometimes to attend an ivy or generous private u where there can be a more generous definition of need. Your mileage may vary, but that’s generally how it works :)
