Son accepted Pre-Business yesterday. Application submitted 9/26/16. All documents ready for committee on 10/12/16. Decision received 10/19/16. 4.0 (W), 26 ACT. NHS and lots of ECs, strong academic rigor. OOS.
I applied before Labor Day, why have I not heard back? Anyone know?
@squarerootof64 The application does say it can take up to 12 weeks for a response.
Are all of your documents submitted and appear on the portal? It isn’t truly “submitted” until they are.
Other factors will also impact the speed. Regions obviously will depending on how many apply from your area.
It’s evident that they are accepting the best of the best first, so if you aren’t at the top of your class, it may take a little bit longer.
If you don’t hear within 12 weeks, call the admissions office.
This isn’t a deferral, this is simply msu asking for more time. I got the same message this morning and it’s because admissions office is so overwhelmed with applicants that they are going to take longer than the initial 12 weeks stated. I thought I was deferred until my boyfriend (who was deferred) told me that wasn’t a deferral message. Hope this helps and I know it’s a little late but don’t worry about it. We just have more waiting to do!!
They need more time because, as already stated, they are accepting the top students first. That’s no different than a deferral.
Also received a deferral notification on my applicant status page. Finished my application and forms October 3rd with interest in Pre-Business. 3.68 GPA, 1360 SAT, 30 ACT, 11 AP classes, and NHS.
All of my documents have been submitted since August 30th, hope to hear back soon!
@rusticlife my friend was accepted after he got the same message you did.
S accepted this morning to Mechanical Engineering - In state. All docs in on August 30th.
His portal page posted the message similar to others that he was competitive but they needed more time. The SBEI inventory showed up on his portal. After looking Inventory FAQ, it indicated towards the bottom something to the effect that they would not proceed with application review until this inventory was complete. Accepted within 36 hours on completing inventory.
I applied yesterday, 3.7 weighted and 1350 on SATs, 29 ACTs… when should I hear back?
Applied a week ago, found out today I got in.
@College1235 crapppp I had all documents submitted Sept 22nd, took student inventory two weeks ago and still haven’t found out!!
Applied 8-17 had all documents in by 8-17. 10-5 my application went into review on 10-14 status changed they needed a new senior schedule because the one the school submitted had missing classes. Down loaded it that day and was also instructed to complete the SBEI in order to have my app reviewed again. Did it on 10-14. Still waiting for an answer
Got accepted today! All my materials were received on October 24th and heard back today. I have a 3.65 GPA, 30 ACT, and 22/434 for class rank. good luck to everybody who hasn’t heard back yet!!
The portal says - “Your application for admission is currently under review with the international admissions committee.” but they haven’t received my SAT scores yet. International. (from India) SAT: 1490, UW GPA: 4.0/4.0, IELTS: 8.5/9
I’m so sad :’( all of my documents were received Oct 3 and I still haven’t been accepted. SAT 1390, act 31, gpa 3.99… Do you think it’ll take longer because I applied to a residential college?
D was accepted into Honors College yesterday via email. She is very excited. Go Sparty!
@BabyFlour Hang in there!
D received snail mail confirmation of HC acceptance, in addition was offered Tuition Grant (we are OOS) and PA. Go Green!
So frustrated my status hasn’t changed since I was asked to submit a new senior schedule on October 14 which I did the same day. Contemplating a call to admissions to ask what the issue might be.
