Official Columbia University Transfer Thread Fall 2012

applying from a state school… @ineedtissues93 are you a freshman or sophomore?

I am a sophomore, applying as a junior transfer. I dont think I have much of a chance but it worth a try.

you guys worry too much! admissions are a crapshoot!

hey @cudreams… keep running into each other. it’s all worth a try!

nice quote! at least we will be able to access our portals starting tomorrow.

Just checked and my tracking is available! guess we won’t have to wait until tomorrow MJ!

I am really on the fence about applying for transfer after next year so can anyone tell me if the fact that I go to a CC is countered by an alumni realtion?
PS the relation is my dad who went there back in the day and he graduated 3rd in his class!

Do you guys have anything missing from you tracking list that you sent in?

Yes, college transcript is missing.

my college official’s report is still missing…

I haven’t received my columbia ID yet, when did you guys get it?

I actually got mine a couple weeks back.

I tracked my application this morning and it said my college transcript was missing. When I called, the lady on the phone checked for me and said they had it. She also said they are very far behind with transfer applications…hopefully that doesn’t mean decisions will be delayed :(. If your tracker says you are missing something, I would call up. Good luck to everyone!

@kevpa1 transfer admissions, like freshman admissions, to Columbia is extremely competitive. The fact that you go to a CC will not be countered by alumni relations. Alumni relations aren’t as integral a part of admissions at Columbia than it is at similar institutions. If you go to a CC just work as hard as you can for a 4.0. Do everything you can to get where you want to be.

@collegekid793 hope they aren’t! I have to request extensions to other schools in the upcoming weeks, but want to know how long of an extension to request, so I would need to know Columbia’s official decision date.

Did you guys send in a midterm update?

I did. At least I think I did, because I submitted the ‘Midterm Report’

A midterm report is required, according to Columbia’s website

Yes I sent one in right before spring break in the middle of March. Good luck!

midterms are required, but I find it interesting that they are not listed on the portal.
