OFFICIAL Common Application Questions Thread

For the academic honors, it says don't list info on separate lines. So would you do something like: National Merit; AP Scholar; etc.?

Help!! We wanted to print out a draft of what ds has done thus far on the common app, but it doesn't look like it will let us. Does anyone know if we can get a hard copy of a working draft (with all fields not yet complete) printed? thanks

no one answered my question earlier about sports

If I'm on varsity this year, but I haven't been for the past few years, do I list all four years as a varsity sport, or all four years as a non-varsity sport? Cuz i dont exactly have room to put it in two seperate lines...

Does a job at your parents' company count as "work"?

Also..would it be to my advantage to not mention that it's my parents' company (because I did do serious work there and I feel that it would be overshadowed by the fact that it's my parents' company)? Or would that be dishonest?

Will i be able to write my essay for topic C in list form? It asks to write an essay for any additional information, but it's just too many.

Another question: Can honors and preAP courses be checked as "AP"? Do you have to specify that's preap or honors in the entry, if it isn't?

My school is divided into an intermediate school (9th and 10th grades) and a senior high (11th and 12th) Should I just say I have been at my current high school for four years, since they are in the same district?

Can rec letters be sent to the schools before the application is submitted? I don't to get locked out yet.

realicecream, my district does the same thing. but i think we have to seperate it into 2 schools

I have a quick question : Is it better to input the essay(s) into the application via the Cut and Paste method or by uploading the essay from a Word file ? Is there any difference between these 2 ways as to how the computer formats the essays in the boxes ? Thanks.

???????????

Could somone pl. recommend a pdf editor that doesnt cost too much (ideally less than $30)?

I am pretty sure that if you cut and paste into a textbox, all formatting will be lost. I'm uploading mine was Word files, that way it won't look funky..

dzzhivago - try PDFill (google it). It costs $20 and I find it works quite well.

This might have already been answered... but I won a scholarship contest that I don't think is an academic honor (it was an essay contest)... where should I put this on the common app?
