You can make copies.

can you link me to the page where i can download the form? how am i suppose to get it water marked? is the only way to modify? helpp =/

btw is this the link for the download form? if so i already downloaded one as a "draft" app...

also one more thing, the recommendation forms on the site (teacher evaluation) i just printed that straight from the site and gave it to my teacher, is that acceptable/ oK?

Next to the extra curricular activities, instead of putting positions held or honors won, can we give a brief description of what we did?

i.e. Activity: Gifts of Love
positions held, honors won: organized food and clothing drives

if not, where should we put the description of what we did?

A detention does not go on your record, so I don't think there's any need to pu it, esp if it's in the 3rd grade lol
[/quote]
What if it was in high school? In my school, you get points for inappropriate behavior and whatnot, but every month your accumulated points are reduced by 5. Detentions count for points, but they don't sound too important or significant.

Still, do detentions belong under "probation" in disciplinary history?

flamingspirits - Yes, that link brings up the paper forms. You don't have to get them watermarked. What I said is that the paper copy generated by the online program has a watermark that indicates applicant copy. You don't need to edit the forms, just fill them out and submit. Giving the recmd forms from the site to your teacher was correct.

limmy, go ahead and do that. Admissions will want to know that, if the organization is not widely known or self-explanatory. Besides, It's sort of like your position -- what you did.

drake,
forget about detentions. They are petty. What did you get one for anyway? Just don't bother with them. There's no need. It won't show up on your transcript, will it?
The disciplinary action is for suspension, expulsion, or breaking the law (excluding traffic violations)
use common sense

tphssenior...so i can just print the link of the form i sent u, print the rec's and year reports....and there ready to be sent by paper mail??

and for supplements, how do i print those? do i fill out all the information online, then when im finished, Print the file, pdf or whatever and submitt that along with my rec's and what ever and i can send that to the college paper mail?

sorry if this has already been answered

Would colleges have a problem with me skipping the short answer question and, instead, submitting a 500-ish word essay in the additional information section that answers the question. I would have submitted this essay as a supplement anyway, but it just so happens that it is concerning my most important EC, so I didn't want to be redundant. Is this okay?

Of course, the link is for the blank forms so you need to fill them out first. If your teachers give you the recs to send, then you would send those otherwise the teachers send them directly using the college address you provided.

If you are going to submit paper supplements, you may want to get them from the college's Web site and fill them out. Some have their supplements designed to be filled out online, printed and submitted by mail. If it looks like the pdf produced by the CA Web site is the same as the one on the colleges' Web site you could use that one.

By the way, why don't you just submit everything electronically?

cory123 - No, it would not be okay to leave the short answer blank. I would suggest you pick a different EC and write about that one in the short answer section. It is only 150 words, so it should be easy to do.

Posting this again... PM me the answer because I might miss it. xD

When it asks for how many credits your courses are...how should I write it? My school has a semester schedule. Well, see, English is one credit.

Should I write it as:

AP English Literature AP English Literature 1.0

or

AP English Literature 1.0 AP English Literature 1.0

or

AP English Literature 0.5 AP English Literature 0.5

^ Nickel Xenon

Just pick one and run with it. It shouldn't matter, since your transcript should have the credits for the course listed anyway.

fwiw, i did it like this: "AP English Literature 0.5 AP English Literature 0.5"

I really doubt I will be getting financial aid ( my father makes too much..i'm assuming) but we are STILL going to fill out FAFSA.

Should I mark yes or no for the below question?
Will you be a candidate for need-based financial aid?

QUESTION :

If I am applying to 10 schools, all of which use the common app, should I make 10 copies of the recommendation forms and give it each of my chosen teachers?

Do i need to give envelops, mailing address, and stamps as well? Which means I would have to give 10 envelopes as well to each teacher?

kidchicago, you don't need to make 10 copies of the recommendation forms because after the teacher fills out one, they just copy that, so that don't have to write it over. but you do need to give all the sending materials to them, one set for each college.

also, i have a few q's of my own. they might've already been answered but i'm too lazy to check through all the posts.

if i have an award that overlaps between academic and extracurricular honors, which section should i put it in? ex. scholar-athlete award

if i'm an asian, should i still list that or not, since its optional?

thanks!!

What happens if you do not sign by accident the part under privacy on the 2nd teachers rec letter but u did sign it on the 1st rec?

o and under classes... what if I am in both AP and IB... soemtime my transcripts say IB but in reality i'm in AP too.. what do i put?

Ok, but if some colleges dont use common app, I would have to give them those forms right?

Yes, if they don't use the CommonApp, you have to give the teacher the other forms.

I have another question. Do my teachers mail the recommendations or do I? I'd rather do it myself... My counselor's not reliable...
