SwordMaiden asked:
"For the Common App recommendations, do teachers have to fill out one for every single school you're applying to? Or can photocopies be made of just one? I'd hate for teachers to have to fill out more than five or six forms."
If someone could answer his question, I'd be grateful. ( I have the same problem ). thanx

Usually teachers write a letter that can be printed out for each college, signed and attached to the form. It depends upon the teacher - but most of them also check the boxes on each form as a courtesy to the student. I'm sure the colleges would accept photocopies, but it may not look as nice as separate forms.

Hi, I participated in Boys State, but Im not sure in which section of common app would that go to?

Academic Honors vs. Description of EC

Say I won an award in Academic Decathlon, does that award go under Academic Honors or under my "Descriptions, Honors won" for Acadec (it's one of my ECs).

Also do we need to explain awards like National Merit and say "Top 1% of students in state to get this award"? Do Awards like this and National AP Scholar (do we need to say something like "only 500 juniors get this award each year") need explanations? or should colleges be aware of them?

I don't know about your Decathalon question, but as for National Merit/AP Scholar, schools know what they are. No need to explain.

If I'm only sending my ACT scores to colleges, should I put what my SAT/SAT II scores are in the scores section?

if one takes a gap year, does he still have to list "current year courses" the Common App?

anybody? please!

i haven't had the time to finish all my supplements. is it okay to submit both the commonapp and the application fee then have the school send my transcripts, letters of rec, etc and then submit my supplements during christmas holiday?

sara, that's fine. all of my colleges have received my transcripts, recs, etc but i'm nowhere near finishing the actual apps.

Sara0023 - some schools require you submit the CA and suppliment at the same time. Others dont care. Look on the page of the ca site that shows which collegss you have selected. It will tell you there.

Is it true that you can't change Common Application once you submit it to any college? Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I don't feel like reading over all 70 threads (with occasional 404 Not Found errors).

You can make multiple versions, luckily!

Thank you!

That clarifies a lot!

im confused-
is the teacher evaluation the same thing as a teacher rec? or do colleges consider that part of the common app and want a letter?

yes, Mizlissa. what I did, my teachers did not fill out teacher eval section and just attached a letter. and was accepted

hehe, sorry for the title...

um, I have slightly diff. app for each institutions, and I'm applying to around 15 colleges. However, commonapp website only allows 10 different app. versions. What am I suppose to do?
Am I allowed to make another account?
Whew, this would be confusing if I have two accounts w/ multiple versions!

Any response would be appreciated. Thanks =)

you can either do sumbit some on paper or condense some to the same version. Common App won't really allow you to make another account. i tried and then they sent me the info about creating alternate versions.

good luck!

Hi,
I want to send in a supplemental rec from my vball coach, and I was wondering, what's the proper procedure for it? Like do I use the 'teacher rec' form and modify it? or will it be in letter form?

Help! thanks!

Do I HAVE to fill out the SAT/ACT scores section?
Because, I don't want one of my colleges to see the SAT scores,
and I am submitting the common app to them. Is sending the SAT scores by Collegeboard enough? or do I HAVE to fill it out.

Where do I put in my honor societies?

honor societies go in extracurricular activity section
