***Official Cornell Class of 2019 Waitlist thread

I haven’t recieved the mailed letter yet either anyone got it? I live in New York too…

I just got mine today

Not sure why they do not respond if they are not going to admit any more
Hoping and waiting is very hard

The waiting list goes through multiple levels. They make offers to the first set of students and wait for their responses. Then they offer to the next set based on how many in the first set turn them down, etc. This can take weeks and, with some colleges, even a couple months. It’s probably why they haven’t formally notified many on the list that it’s finished. My son’s Cornell rep said they would let him know when it’s completely done, even if he doesn’t get an offer.

Thank you. I syour son also waiting to here from CAS? My son is waiting to hear from CAS. When I called they say it it is over but do not understandin they are not notifying still. Anyway will wait. Hope something comes up is good. All the best for your son as well

Still no news from CALS…

java1000, my son is also waiting on CAS. I’m guessing Fall is no longer available, but he’s mainly waiting on deferred enrollment (spring or the next fall). I’ll post if he is contacted by them one way or the other. Good luck to all, just in case there are a few spaces left for new students!

Haven’t gotten my official letter yet either.

I just got mine today in the mail. It was really exciting. All the FYSA students should definitely keep in touch!

I hope I get my financial aid package soon. I hope that I will receive some aid. For some reason, I heard that Cornell has a reputation of being not so generous when it comes to aid.

@werewolf I called CALS today and they said they “don’t know if they’re going to the wait list yet.” Not sure if that’s true, but that’s what they said.

@mfflforlife agreed! Join the fb group if you haven’t already

@saltydog97 Awwh man, I don’t have a FB (multiple reasons, haha). If there is another way to keep in touch please let me know!

An update: my son contacted his Cornell admissions rep (he applied to CAS) and was informed that the waitlist is not yet over. There are possible spots left in different schools for different admissions periods, like for Spring. So he was told he’ll have to keep waiting for now, but they will eventually inform him of a decision, one way or the other.

@Frankens9 Does that mean that there’s a possibility for guaranteed transfers too?

@win2015 - most likely GT is done.

@oldfort Really? I feel like a lot of people got GTs around June last year, maybe I’m wrong though. CALS doesn’t even know if they’re going to the waitlist yet (probably for fall).

@win2015 I also thought that many people would get GTs later but this year may be different because of spring admission…

@15sahn I hope we’ll find out soon, I don’t know if I can wait anymore hahah [-O<

I could be wrong. I don’t follow GT as much. I thought they gave out GT during the regular admission cycle, and only filling any open slots from the WL. I have only seen GTs for CALs and few other schools, not for COE or CAS.
