Waitlist 2010

Thread for updates and decisions for waitlisted people :)

Anyone know how long we have to wait to hear back?

We won’t hear before May 1 anyway, will we?

Unless its obvious they are going to be well under-enrolled, probably not…

I asked if they had any word on whether or not they will be taking kids off the waitlist because my friend had his “Waitlist” at Johns Hopkins changed to an “Accepted” like 5 days after the decisions came out but they said they wont know until then.

I’m wait-listed too, if anyone hears back please let us know!

Any word on whether or not they will even be going to their waitlist?

The waiting is driving me crazy…The told me in an email that I should be hearing from them in “a couple of weeks”, that could mean anything!

it seems as if cornell will either not be going to the waitlist or accepting very few students this year. they told me this in an email when i asked for updates. :frowning: I REAALLLY want them to go to waitlist. and apparently they accept students by major, not by general need.

did they indicate by when theyd let us know, or if theyd let us know if u dont make it?

Sooo… i emailed the CoE admissions office to ask if they know whether or not they are going to the waitlist this year because i have friends who have gotten in off Duke and JHU’s waitlist and because its 10 days after the May first respond deadline. What i got was:

…

:(

This is what I got:

Dear X,

You should be hearing from Cornell in the next couple of weeks.

Good luck!
Sincerely,
Arts and Sciences Admissions

does that mean before june? very douchy of them.

Dear X,

We do not know yet if we are going to the waiting list. You will receive
a letter in the mail letting you know the decision.

Sincerely,
Arts and Sciences Admissions

WOW… so vague -_-

Wait … they’ll send a letter - in the mail? :S

I’m international —> so if they send it in the mail, it means i’ll probably get it NEXT YEAR.
yay :)

That’s contradicting to what I know because

I thought they call you, not mail.

It sounds as if everyone will get a mail notifying their decision, but I thought Cornell only notifies those who have been placed off the waitlist?

I heard people found out about Columbia, so that means Cornell will probably lose a couple of people, so hopefully they’ll notify their waitlist soon. Anyone have a guess as to when it’ll happen?

Hopefully before June :/

Dear X,

We have not yet determine whether or not we will be using our waiting list. We will notify all students regardless whether they have been accepted from the waiting list.

Kind Regards,
Undergraduate Admissions Office

judging from the threads from the past few years, they should have decided by now.

do u think this unnatural delay comes from:

a) they noticed something over the last few years that suggests they should wait a while even after the student decisions come in.

b) they have already decided they wont go to the waitlist this year and are taking their time.
