Official Cornell ED Class of 2014 DECISIONS Thread

I got mine a few days after notice by express mail, and I live in China so I guess it was pretty fast.

I got the mail like 4 days after…

This confirms her sense she was denied or deferred. Yes, she is going to open the letter when it comes. She doesn’t want to look online.

Have her (or just you) look online. If she’s accepted, you’re going to want to call and find out where the mail is as the finaid letter (which should come about the same time as the acceptance letter) includes instructions on the $400 deposit which must be postmarked by January 15th (the clock is ticking). If she’s deferred, you’ll want to call anyway to make sure they have the right address for future correspondence. If she’s rejected, don’t worry about it.

my finaid hasnt come yet…because i messed up some forms…I dont think itll come in time before Jan 15. What should I do?

They only send you snail mail if you get accepted

from admissions:
Our Early Decision applicants were able to access their admissions decisions online beginning at 5:00 p.m. last night (December 10). Acceptance letters also went in the mail yesterday, so some students will receive their good news both online and on paper. We no longer mail letters to students that are refused admission or postponed to regular decision; these students only receive their decisions online unless they specifically request a paper copy of their decision letter.

I haven’t received my official letter of acceptance yet, I wonder if there is something wrong. How does Cornell send the letter to international student? by express mail or ordinary mail?

in general, it takes a lot longer for the letter to get to the international students

Oh, really? >< That is too bad. I am quite eager to know what else I shall do after the admission.

Wait till April (late March?) for housing/meal forms.

@ thevicfung:

I got my financial aid projections a few days after we found out ED decisions online (I think it was the 10th?); it came at the same time as the official letter of acceptance in the mail. You should definitely call or even email the FinAid office: I’ve emailed them during the application process for a stupid mistake on the forms and they were really nice about it. Of course, it’ll probably be different for International Students: I read somewhere that they make your FinAid decision with their acceptance decision.

I didn’t know anything about financial aid during the application process… so I didn’t send in an application. I feel like I’m way behind in the game… hoping there’s some way to still get fin aid. How did you guys know about it? Is it common to have to submit all that fin aid paperwork so early without having any idea if your accepted yet?

btw, accepted ED in CALS for Animals Science… and super excited!!! :-D

Decisions? I decided against applying! It would have been an automatic rejection, not to mention a bad fit.

Where do we go look if we didn’t get an e-mail with instructions?

If anyone can please post the e-mail, it owuldbe appreciated. Thanks, and good luck!
