^which college?

CALS…for a communication major

Malan, calling myself a match doesn’t imply anything besides the fact that I would consider myself a good fit for my college with stats within Cornell’s range. That doesn’t mean that I thought I was a shoe-in and I’m not “taking the numbers for granted.”

However I did apply ED, so that must mean that “don’t care much about Cornell.”

W/e though, I get what you mean. No offense taken, just words on a screen.

TBH, aMak, I didn’t even see your post (I know you’re an ED applicant from the EDers thread, so it wouldn’t even make sense applied to you), I was just responding to misterpresident’s post (#13). A lot of people I know (and have seen in other parts of CC) see Cornell as a backup to HYPSM or other elite schools and I think that’s stupid for the reasons I listed… That’s what I was talking about.

Oh, well nvm then.

hey zabeth do you happen to go to SIS?

about 69 hours to go =D

what exactly does fit mean???

It means how well you fit into that particular college; Whether your ECs and grades reflect he ability to do well in the college you applied for.

^yup that’s right

Also means how much they think your professors and peers will like you. That’s just as important. for AAP the admissions process is apparently run by the professors, so fit really does mean how much the professors like you.

and I’m assuming your teacher references are the main things in determining how much “your professors and peers will like you”?

Or interviews. and essays to an extent.

…46 hours =D

good luck guys!

haha, we get our decisions at the same time!

-Columbia EDer

1.5 days!!! whooooo

^good luck to you too

aghhh!! i’m soooo nervous!!
ummmm i don’t know if i have a chance of getting in or not…

I applies to cornell’s hotel school ed

here’s my stats:

GPA Unweighted: 3.05
GPA Weighted: 3.6

SAT Critical Reading: 610
SAT Math: 710
SAT Writing: 680

SAT II MATH 2C: 800
SAT II Korean with Listening: 780
SAT II US History: 660

Yes, I know my gpa is REALLY low, but you have got to take into consideration that my school is a magnet school and it is ranked number 28 by U.S. Newsweek, which means a LOT of competition.
I have taken 6 AP classes and the rest honors.

I have many ecs
My main one is work experience.
I currently work at a Hilton Hotel as front desk. around 32~40 hours a week. i end school at 12 20. go to work at 230 and come home at 11.
I interned at this hotel for 150 hours and have started working there since aug 3 2009.
I think I wrote a bomb essay
My interview was 1 hr 45 min long. She seemed to really like me.

ummm… yeah basically I’m just nervous. If I don’t get in, I would probably go to UNLV.

do you know if cornell looks more on work experience than gpa???
b/c i’m basically riding on work experience b/c of my low gpa and sat scores

well anyways gluck to everyone! :)

I wouldn’t worry about your uw gpa too much. You clearly devote most of your time to Hotel aside from school and you should explain to them why your gpa is lower. Working that many hours on top of school is impressive.
