Official Cornell Transfer 2011

@witchdoctor

Since mine is so late they asked me to fax it to the ILR office directly. I guess the number’s available online, but they gave it to me anyway.

@Ithacakid

Yeah they said they’re giving notification starting “this week” but couldn’t say more. It was worth a shot, right?

@weezyf

Was it a different number? Mine still hasn’t shown up as being received so now I’m a little concerned. I guess I’ll wait until tomorrow if it doesn’t show up and then email them. They’re pretty fast about answering anyway.

@witchdoctor

I wouldn’t imagine it’s a problem. The reason I’m faxing to ILR is that they’ve already changed my status to “File complete and forwarded.” At least I think that’s why (I’m going off of instructions from the GT email). If you only faxed it Saturday, I’d check after 5:00 PM today. That’s when they update the online system.

You said you got a confirmation. How did that work?

@weezyf

It was just a fax confirmation saying it went through. It doesn’t mean anyone was actually there to receive and sort it though. My file isn’t complete so I guess it’s different; I’m still waiting on a professor to mail out my recommendation. I’m also not a GT. Thanks though, I didn’t realize when the system got updated. It would make sense that it didn’t show up then; I’m sure they don’t have people working on the weekend.

@weezyf

Yea worth the shot. Thanks. Are you entering as a freshman or sophomore?

@ithacakid91
to my knowledge i dont think freshmen can apply as spring transfers
spring transfers are limited to sophomores and/or juniors lol

So in weezyf’s case he applied for fall 10’ and got GT for Spring 11’?

Can the same happen in the Spring? Being admitted as GT for Fall 11’?

@Ithacakid91

Yup, that’s what happened to me. I don’t see why something similar couldn’t work out for you; if application fees aren’t an issue, you could certainly apply for Fall 11 as well if they don’t outright GT you. Since ILR is huge on fit (you may have noticed my less-than-stellar college GPA at the time of application) your persistence could serve you well.

anybody got anything yet?

I didn’t get an email, yet. Better luck tomorrow! I hope I get something soon! =)

hey guys i have a question regarding GT’s.
So GT’s have a higher chance of getting in right? Are GT’s guaranteed with 100% acceptance or almost? And do all schools in Cornell give out GT letters? :P

@leebruce

GT is just that: guaranteed transfer admission (provided the applicant meets certain guidelines). Mine was just a GPA check (3.3+ no single grade below B), but others are that with the offer being contingent on enrolling in another course or two over the summer/in the next semester. In my case, if I don’t meet the GPA check, I’m considered in the context of the transfer pool as a whole. Otherwise it’s a sure thing.

Per the forms they gave us, Hotel, A&S, CALS, HumEc, AAP and ILR offer GT’s (or TO’s which I gather are similar).

@weezyf
Thanks for the info! If you don’t mind me asking… Did you fulfill your GT requirements? haha :P

@leebruce

It’s likely but I won’t know for sure until I get my grades back for two midterms tomorrow. Wish me luck, haha

goddddddddddddddd i wanna knowwwww

ahhhhhhhh i hate playing the waiting game =/
i was never patient >_<

ugh =/
