Hi

I am glad this thread is finally moving.

@xd00dx: If you are GT, I don’t know why you would care about admission decisions coming out.

@HHop:

It’s still a big deal for me, at least, to know I’m officially in. I’m sure xd00dx didn’t mean to demean your stress, but it’s still a big moment and one that I’d like to have a definite-ish date on.

@xd00dx:

For ILR it’s a few days after they confirm your midterm grades. I bet CALS/AEM is something similar. Nice to see another GT on the boards!

hey guys…
i applied for a transfer for CALS!!! and i wish everyone the best of luck!!!
Two questions that i wish to address…:

Is anyone planning to transfer for the fall? I know it is a bit early.

@Kevlar22

Not sure when they’ll notify, but don’t worry about sending in the midterm report. If you’re worried about them having adequate time to evaluate your app, you can call them and ask for their fax number so they can receive it more quickly, but, no, it does not look bad if you’re waiting for grades. Good luck!

@Harvardhop My apologies, this is very big for me and I was just asking around to see if it was before or the same as the regular decisions. I was under the whole application stress back in March so I know how it feels.

I forgot to clarify that it’s for this spring.

@weezy Likewise! I’m hoping to see a group on facebook to get to know the other spring transfers.

Applied for Spring 11. To ILR.

Have a 3.4 at Ithaca College, right next door to Cornell.
Averaging 17 credits a semester.
Mid-term grades are a 3.4 as well.

EC:
State Champions Lacrosse
Regional Finalist Golf
Eagle Scout
Private Pilot License
SCUBA Diver
Trading Club at IC
Intramural Sports at IC

Not too confident. My grades aren’t as high as most applicants. I know a lot of people and I feel like if I get in it will be because of that. I will never feel like I deserve to be there. :/

Why didn’t i see this thread earlier!!!

Hey guys, i am also applying to Cornell as a 2011 spring transfer applicant. Its good to see that there are a bunch of us all applying to Cornell! I just hope that we all get accepted…

Anyway, i am applying to the School of Hotel Administration. Anyone else out there applying to the Hotel School?

I do appreciate this thread. I applied to CALS -AEM, but I am so scared right now…because my GPA is a 3.4 and so is my midterm report. EC’'s, essay, and recs are awesome though. I am a Nigerian, but I attend a community college here, in Illinois. I’m really crossing my fingers, cuz everyone who was accepted to cornell had a very high gpa ( as for the stats have seen on CC). I DO appreciate it if any one knows of someone who got into cornell with a low gpa LIKE mine!

hey fellow transfer, i stumbled on this thread trying to look for an answer to my question. hopefully someone can answer it! :)

i’m applying as an AEM transfer as well. alternate major: communications.

i called cornell b/c my midterm grades were coming out pretty late and they said it wouldn’t be a problem. However they also said some decisions are made without the midterm report (i’m guessing if the application is really strong or weak).

my application was forwarded for review sometime last week and i received an email today saying that they are unable to render a final decision until they receive my midterm report and asked me to fax it asap.

so i was wondering…does this mean my admission is dependent on my midterm grades (which would be awesome because I aced my midterms)? or do you guys think that they looked at my file, saw that the required midterm report wasn’t there and will look at my app after they receive it.

i’m just incredibly nervous…i’m probably overinterpreting the email…but what do you guys think? has anyone else who hasn’t submitted their midterm report received similar emails?

thanks!

I’ll try to be neutral as much as possible (not giving you too much hope. sorry, it would be bad if i put your hope up high, and you get rejected at the end :().

It could also mean that they want to check on something before accepting/rejecting you. Since I don’t know what classes you are taking and how they are related to AEM, I don’t know if that’s true. It might just happen to be that you are in the one of the core classes, and they want to see how you do in it (so far).

Good luck!

tallfrodo,

Did you call CALS directly, or the general admission phone line?

I agree with fri3nds04, if you did well on your mid-terms rush those grades in ASAP!

does anyone know if we will be notified by either e-mail (common for CALS in the past) and/or regular mail? I called the office, and was told to call on Nov. 15th if I did not hear word. Do not know if it is true for the other colleges, but this date is CALS specific. But, it would be great to get a definite answer because I seriously need to let my college know if I am transferring since there is a late fee (by first week of Nov.)

From what I know, the people who contact us that a document is missing are from the processing center (they do not have anything to do with the decision). I called this morning, because although I have already submitted my ‘school official’ form it keeps on showing as missing. They explained that the form was incomplete, but they will take it. Admission officers don’t see our application until it has gone through the processing center.
I think you misunderstood the email that was sent to you. From what the lady told me applications ‘can’t’ be forwarded to review until everything else is complete (in your case the ‘mid-term’ report). Can you post the email on here?
