Official Countdown for Prep School March 10th Decision

aah! only 4 more days!

DONT invite sittingbull onto this thread....he tells ppl if they will get into a school by looking at their name. in my opinion, thats an evil thing to do, telling people they will not get in or raising hopes of people who might NOT get in. besides, we just got rid of him.

i really hope you get in wherever you want to go..

i just really hope i get into groton..
i don't want to assume i want it more than everyone
but i want to go sooo badly
if only the admissions office knew..

and the list goes on....there are lot of us, don't you think?

it's major embarrassment if i don't get in. seriously. i started homeschooling so that i can prepare myself for prep schools, and EVERYONE knows about it. so if i dont get in they'll be all like 'omg she made all that fuss and couldn't get in! when [insert a genius korean kid's name] got in with regular shcool!!'

I kinda know what you mean... I didnt want to tell any friends/teachers that I was applying but once I told once person they all found out and now it'll be so embarassing if I dont get in. And getmeintogroton... I know what you mean too, I wish the admission office knew how badly I wanted to get into Cate...

FOUR DaYsz!!!

wow, from reading this i am so glad that i told no friend except 4 my cousin, and asked all of my teachers to keep it confidential

well, my teachers weren't really familiar with the idea of boarding school (except for my french teacher, who went to school next to choate). i introduced the subject by giving them all of my information packets. haha... i sort of passed them around, giving each of them a chance to take a look at the schools. i think it was a good idea, too, because now they all know about the individual schools.

i put blueman11 instead of 101, sorry!!

ahhhh im so nervous...

by the way, this is the second longest thread i ever started. the longest one was jr.high school students-yes or no.

three days!

three days? really? wow.
as i am typing this my dog is looking at me with a resentful expression, as if she knows that i am leaving her next year. poor puppy...my brothers will be at college, and me away...unless i get totally rejected, of course.

i was reading the messages about ppl praying at night for acceptances to the boarding schools. not me. as they say, god helps those who helps themselves. im not a religious fanatic or anything, i just figured its my fault if i get rejected.

Well, when I went to my teachers in the fall I asked them to keep it confidential.. and I didn't tell any of my friends. But I've started telling a few of them in a REALLY casual (" I'm applying, but I don't really know if I'll go") way, so they don't think its that big a deal.

THREE days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, does anyone know if Andover posts their decisions on the internet??

they do, i think. you should go to "my andover" on the andover website and type in your email address&the password the shcool gave out.

by the way, just in case you were confused, the countdown's ending at 3:oop.m. of march 10th. and they dont tell me if it's eastern time or some other time...anyway, so its gonna look like 2 days left to some of you and three days left to some of you. for me, it says 2 days. which scares me.i really hope with all my heart that all of 8th grade ccers get in. theres a possibility that we could even meet at the schools!

I think we should all post the schools were applying for (although perferrably at the applying for prep school thread), and our stats one more time. By stats, I mean, grades, SSAT scores, extracurriculars, location, and anything that we think is a disadvantage or advantage. Seeing as though the decision day is so soon and all.

Also, I'm not an 8th grade. I'm applying for grade ten, which will make getting in even harder.

2 daysz... im getting so nervous!

I posted my 'stats' on the other thread.. and I'm applying to Andover/Exeter (top choice=EXETER!).

This week has been dragging by so slowly!!!2 day countdown

Oh, and in response to wantascholarship's post about meeting each other at the schools.. that would insanely weird! And fun... just odd. seeing as that we already know so much about each other and yet we've never met..

I'll just post my stats on this thread. Applying to Andover, Exeter, and Choate. All A and A+'s for grades. Past year had some B's however (7th) 94 Reading and Math on SSAT, 86 on Verbal. Do cross-country and tennis. Taking private French Lessons. Very interested in culture and foreign languages. I was born in Lithuania, lived in Sweden 5 years before moving here. Made very clear that my aspiration was to become a journalist and I loved writing. At Choate the interview went great. (When I got home the interviewer had sent me a email saying that I did fantastic, guess that's a major plus) Andover went horribly because I was sooo nervous I barely could move and Exeter went OKAY except I think I didn't answer one question to the sense of her liking.

Ugh I will not be able to go to sleep tomorrow. God, this is the most stressful thing. Well good luck to everyone and talk to you all Friday!

here's my full stats. i copied&pasted from what i posted on the applying to prep school thread.

reading your stats made me feel sooooooo horrible. here's mine.

-applying to exeter, andover, choate, hotchkiss, deerfield, and peddie
- 96 (NOT percentile. the real score. percentile's better) on SSAT
- horrible on ISEE, but hopefully that doesnt matter that much
- 111/120 on TOEFL, which i sent to some schools
- all Bs and As except one C in 6th grade
- all A-, A, or A+ in 7th grade..maybe one or two Bs?
-all A+ in 8th grade
-started homeschooling in the middle of 7th grade
-plays golf-but no other sport ;(
-does computer graphics design (designed my parents' buisness name cards, newsletters, and fliers)
- art (im not very good, but i sent photos of some of my work.)
- math olympiads such as Enopi, AMC8, and KSEA.
- a few MINOR awards including essay contests
- was in choir for 6th and 7th grade (section leader in 7th)
- was in school plays for 6th and 7th grade
- i'm a tutor-get paid and everything =)
- in Gifted and Talented Program
- came to america in the end of 2002 ( i hope that helps because i never went to ESL and is fluent in English)
- a female asian in california (which sucks)
-all interviews went well except hotchkiss- he asked me something i didnt know. for andover, the interviewer, an alumni, said that i'll be 'fit for andover', and my exeter interview went on for two and a half hours. my peddie phone interview was so much fun, and choate interview- with someone who's living my DREAM JOB he even asked me if there was anything i would like him to put in the letter. my deerfield interview with a parent was a bit awkward, but i dressed REALLY formally and the parent REALLY liked it.

do i have my chances? i want andover&exeter.....sOoooo bad...

so....do you think i have chances with the big A and big E?
