codeblue87, you're an inspiration to anyone who has received a "C" semester grade!

mangopeachie-

I'll see you at Prefrosh then! To make quotes, I believe you use a "quote" tag. You would type "quote" without the quotes inside brackets with a beginning and ending tag (i.e. with a /).

Decision: ACCEPTED WITH AXLINE!!

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2320 (790 M, 760 CR, 770 W)
[] SAT IIs: 800 Math IIc, 760 USH, 730 Phys.
[] GPA: 98.125 w
[] Rank: 18/330
[] Other stats: Research awards, including national finalist @ Siemens and top 10 @ STS
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: I thought they were pretty good. I was writing so many essays then, maybe I got the hang of it! Both really helped demonstrate my passion for astronomy.
[] Teacher Recs: I would imagine they were as good as I could have wanted, but I didn't see them (though I heard about them). One was from my science research teacher, one from my English teacher, and one was from my research mentor. The people I picked really like me, so...
[] Counselor Rec: Same.
[] Hook (if any): Research. I definitely demonstrated my passion for astronomy, and backed it up with demonstrated success in research that's going to really impact the field.
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: NY (Long Island)
[] School Type: Public

[] Gender: Male
[] Major Strength/Weakness: Research. I showed a real passion, what I really love, and pursued it, and that's all you really can do in high school.
[li] Why You Think You Were Accepted/Rejected/Waitlisted: Because Caltech likes people who truly love science? :) That's all I can speculate upon.[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Not sure what to say. Congrats to everyone who got in, this is quite spectacular!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!
How did you find out about Axline?

And by the way, the Axline letter came in the acceptance package--right above the letter of actual acceptance, so it was essentially "Congratulations! You are an Axline scholar!" and then "Congratulations! You're in!", which amused me :) Sorry to disappoint some of you...

How many are given in total? 15-20? I know of three right now, but I should hear more soon.

GuitarManARS, congratulations on Axline, you are totally amazing :).

I got rejected from MIT. Make what you want of that, I really don't care. I think that a lot of it really does boil down to luck. My friend told me that there's a girl she knows that got into MIT but got waitlisted by Caltech.
Oh well...

Anyway, I threw aside all work for the day and now I'm just listening to the Beach Boys.
I wish they all could be California girrrrrrls.....
