OFFICIAL Duke University Deferred Thread!!

Hey there y'all. Just posting this to let you know that WE STILL HAVE A SHOT FOR THE SCHOOL OF OUR DREAMS!!! Anyways, just making this thread so we can talk to each other about what we're gonna try to do to get accepted in regular. Let the conversing begin!!!

I absolutely love your optimism. You definitely still have a solid shot (they deferred you for a reason). Can’t wait to see you in Durham! (I’m sure we’ll end up bumping into each other :stuck_out_tongue: )

I absolutely agree with Kenyanpride. Good luck, and keep your heads up!

I just got deferred yesterday from Trinity. Thanks for the thread!

I found this NYT article from 2 years ago, but it is advice and info on deferral from the Dean of Admissions at Duke. Good Luck!

[You Got Deferred. Now What? - NYTimes.com](You Got Deferred. Now What? - The New York Times)

got deferred as well! W00T

@bluehousemom I actually read that article today as well haha. It was pretty informative.

So do all of the deferred applicants have to wait until April first just like the RD applicants?

Got deferred as well. It broke my heart.

And the disappointing news is that we even have less chance than the RD applicants if the data in the deferral letter are right.

Haha, I know… 5-10%… so out of the 600 of us, approximately 30-60 of us will get in… and yeah, it really tore me up too… I thought I was feeling ok, but towards the end of spanish class, when the teacher was kidding around with me for not doing the hw, i started choking up, sprinted to the bathroom and didn’t come out for like 20 minutes… with quite noticeable red eyes… and I’ll give you a hint: there was no drugs in that bathroom. Anyways, hopefully we can all do well! Do you guys think we should make a facebook group for us, just to see if we can help each other out? Who knows, we might be able to break the norm and get more than 10% in at regular!

Impressed by your optimism Wiredlocke. Actually the fact that we are deferred instead of rejected means that we are still relatively competitive!

Good luck to everyone who got deferred.
