Our letter finally came in the Midwest. My son was ACCEPTED to Harvey Mudd College.

Jubilation at our house.

To add to blackroses comment, funny how there are no deferrals or rejects here at the moment. Again, says something about acceptees

I imagined a huge change after accpentance, like going out every night + hanging out with friends all day/night long. but now, since none of my closest friends got in, I have no friend to hang out, nothing to do and even forgot what I had planned before. : (

lol this is awesome. No CC rejects or deferrals yet.

Sorry to ruin the streak…

deferred

:( Sorry places. Hopefully you’ll get in during the RD round!!

Good to see all of the new admits.

At the moment, it is very likely that I will be the only person going to Harvey Mudd from my school. I only know of one other person who applied ED (he was rejected), and there are only a couple others who will apply RD (both stand a good chance of getting in, but they already have been accepted at other very good schools (one of them at Caltech and MIT in the same week!), making it less likely that they will go there).

Is anyone else in a similar situation, where they will have to effectively rebuild their social circle from scratch if they go to Harvey Mudd?

Well I already know like a few people from mudd since I did an overnight. But besides that, I don’t know any people who are seniors that will be going. No one in my class is applying (there are only about 60 kids) one is likely to go to Harvard, but I don’t think any other kids from my class will go to top tier schools besides us two (she’s my best friend too)… not because they aren’t smart, but the ones who are in the APs and have good GPAs either have SAT scores around 1600s or are applying to San Diego University (Jesuit) and other Jesuit schools (I go to a Jesuit school). Some are hoping to get into UCLA, or Notre Dame, but that’s about as high up as it gets. One kid wants to go to MIT, he has a 2320 SAT or something, but he’s a lazy arrogant ass who has like a 3.3uw/3.8w weighted and thinks he’s smarter than everyone. He actually even bet a friend of mine $20 I wouldn’t get into HMC. Sucks for him. And I was like his only close friend too. I don’t need friends like that. :/

Lol sorry to go off track there… anyway, yes, I will have to make new friends.
Oh, there might be like two kids from my old school going to Pitzer/ Mckenna, though.

Being from the east coast, very few kids at my school have even heard of Mudd. So don’t worry. You definitely will not be the only person coming with no connections whatsoever.

Haha same carsugar, people keep thinking I’m saying Harvard Med, which doesn’t even make sense.
