Official ED Applicants 2014

@aufossil21: yes i see ur point…but when i saw all the high scores i wasnt really surprised since Rice is such a fantastic school!!
and i totally chose it over harvard even tho i live in boston and my parents tried to force me to apply there.

sorry i just had a moment.

Yeah, but honestly, like others have said, we’re a really small section of the applicant pool. It’s nice to see the results of years’ past, like the deferences/acceptances/rejections and their stats because it gives an idea of exactly what happened to those people, but if we’re just throwing around our scores and talking about stats (unless it’s a chance board), then it’s just us applicants intimidating each other whether it’s on purpose or not. And besides, it’s a mere 24 hours within the amount of time we’re going to find out the results anyway - why must we see “who we’re competing with”? =]

I agree with Travistag. I know personally that I just ramble once I get nervous, hence the lengths of my posts. I just want something to take my mind off of waiting.

@RaeBanging: sorry if it looked like i was showing off my scores - i wasn’t intending to do that, i swear

lol travistag I posted what I just posted like 2 seconds after you posted that - now this board is getting really active haha so it all comes out of order

I’ve managed to avoid the “chance me” posts but here goes…
My son took the ACT twice, 33 composite each time, once with a 36 on the math.
He took the SAT 3 times: 2090 , 2190, 2290 (Nov 2009). The last one was 780 M, 800 CR, 710 W.
SAT2: 800 Math 2, 780 Bio E
4s and 5s on the AP Global History, US History, Stat, Bio, and English Comp, so he’s earned AP Honors with Distinction and
We hope that offsets his 3.6/3.9 GPA and around 15% class rank.

sorry if that comes off that way…most of us are just trying to find ways to pass the time

not trying to shove anything in anybody’s face(unlike some other schools on CC)

agreed, Fromen.

Wait, guys, i was definitely showing off…

wow lol three posts in one minute; we’re starting to get as active as those ivy league ED boards hahahaha

HAHA yes!!! i get that alot. and since i’m from new york, Rice isn’t as well known…so its even worse because they’ve never heard of the school ):

Intensewaiter: I’ve heard McGill is a wonderful school, and we live in California.

intensewaiter: I’m asian and I know EXACTLY what you mean hahaha

Also, a lot of people have been telling me that I will be the only asian in Houston…but I don’t understand that because I have seen plenty of asians at Rice!

im white, but my friends and parents still make many terrible rice jokes all the time.

Pootypie I’m from NY also…if you don’t mind me asking, which school do you go to?

Rice is 18% Asian, so I don’t think being asian is an oddity there.

sick i’m asian too
yeah, from what i’ve heard rice is very diverse. which is excellent b/c its probably my favorite feature of new england

Geuss its tomorrow, im freaking out cause i really wanna get in, but my stats arent that great compared to CCers and idk if ill be able to make that 30%

whoa all of you guys are asian. Am i the only middle eastern up in here?

being from Houston i can say that Houston has a pretty good sized Asian population(most prominent being Korean); it also has a pretty good Chinatown mmmmm :)

and Rice has a huge proportion of Asians on campus so i wouldn’t worry about not “fitting in” as an Asian on campus
