collegereally? : here’s one! where r u from?

i hope they come tomorrow but since im on the west coast i doubt it, if im really lucky maybe saturday…i wanna know if i got in before i take my finals =p

I hope I get it before the end of the week.

I hate how the stupid mailing system works. Kids have already gotten accepted, I have friends from other schools who were accepted while other applicants in their school weren’t notified yet. I mean is it completely random? Because I live on Long island, 45 minutes away from NYC and I haven’t been notified while people in pennsylvania have. I feel like they send out a few letters just to get us hyped and anxious

missamericanpie: yeah i get college credit. ive already taken 30 units and maybe u can help cuz i posted this before but no one answered probly cuz they didnt know. since we’re all in hs lol …okay so if i got LSPed wich is kinda scaring me now cuz ppl have gotten theres and if i didnt get LSPed…im probly out, then i will have to take general ed class right? in lsp. so ive already done general ed classes and will complete the transfer program at our community college locally…so what happens then? do i retake all those classes for liberal studies and only get elective credit? is that still worth sumthin? or did i basically just do it to enhance my app and knowledge i guess? lol

and kochls…i agree with ur last post too! ahh no ones posting rejections…n its kinda scarin me too…

no idea. cross that bridge when you get there. unless you can prove to NYU that those classes are equivalent to what you would take here, those all might end up being electives or something. but that’s a guess.

I’m not really sure happened. I think most of the reasoning behind LSP is a mystery. If you look in past threads, you will see people with higher stats than me get LSP’d as well as people with lower stats than me get admitted directly. Personally, I’m thrilled to have been LSP’d. My essay and rec’s were fine. I didn’t really have many EC’s other than varsity sports though, so that might’ve had something to do with it. Good luck to you.

I keep reading that people are using there NYU ID’s to check if they get in or not. Where do you type in the id? I browsed the website but couldn’t find it! I’m becoming a paranoid freak!

Tisch, Theatre, hope I get in!

Unfortunately, you cannot check the status of your application online. Just gotta wait for the snail mail!

First post! I got Lsp’d, and am from California. I got my mail around the 7th, and it’s dated the 4th. I had a few inhibitions about the LSP program, but after doing alot of digging I think I’m going to go for it, since the core classes about civilization and culture really interest me.

I got a few questions, and definitely do not mean to offend anybody. While searching around I came across some site about students giving reviews about the school, and man, did they have some stuff to say. There was like some huge plethora of negative reviews about how much the dorms suck and lack of campus life (i’m actually all for this) and snooty people , etcetc.

This might be the wrong place to ask, but I’m really curious. Do any of you have anything to say about it (especially undergrads)? Between the negative and positive comments, most were in agreement that students who enter NYU seem to end up becoming extremely clique-y and basically if you don’t end up in a clique that you like, your SOL. I mean, I’d just go make friend with the grandmas feeding birds in the park at that point, but is everyone really so reluctant to look outside of their immediate surrounding?

i’m korean living in china!! you?? which college did you apply to?

I received an email on 3rd of december. Im really happy because NYU is NYU… but Im not sure which city to go to if anyone can suggest anythingg !!! PLEASEEE

question to all the LSP-accepted out there:

do you get to choose the city or is it given?

ALSO, when do you have to reply by?

ALSO2, it’s not binding if we get LSPd right?

Apparently they choose which city you get to be in but you can request to change it.
you have 3 weeks from the date that you receive the email.
No, its not binding since you get rejected from the school you actually applied to

It’s hard to tell you for sure, but I know from some people I know that are at NYU already, they haven’t had a hard time making a pretty solid group of friends.
Any college is going to be clicky in some way shape or form, especially a school like NYU that has specialized programs. I’m well aware that programs in tisch certainly will be a click type social system, It’s the arts. And yes, I know this for a fact, I have friends currently at NYU for Theatre and Film.
However.
There is no reason anyone can’t reach out and meet people outside of their program of studies through their dorms, classes outside of your major, and so on, so forth.
I’ve certainly read the same from some people, but I’ve heard otherwise from my friends, so it seems like a matter of whether you put yourself out there or not.
Just my thoughts.

thats extremely concerning… I was hoping that applying ED to a school would eliminate the “crap shot” acceptance process. I’ve head of kids being rejected RD to NYU because they were overqualified and were likely just using it as a safety. I hoped to get LSP’d but since that didn’t happen, it’s a black and white decisio now, I’m eiher in or out which is pretty scary. It’ll take me a while to take in a rejection letter

I figured as much. This is basically what I told myself when I read all the reviews. I guess I just won’t know until I experience it for myself! Just needed someone besides my head telling me that, thanks!

did anyone ED to Steinhardt for Media, Culture, Communications? Has anyone heard back?

A girl from my grade got her LSP letter yesterday, so i’m freaking out…i hope i get the letter soon, i am about to go mentally insane.

i also ED’d for MCC. U.S. citizen living abroad, still haven’t heard back via email or mail. hang in there!

i hope we hear back soon, i’m just nervous because i feel everyone is extremely qualified and my stats are pretty average :(
