god i really hope i got in…like i took 30 units of college credit. but idk of other kids did that. have u heard of anyone? thats the thing that i hope will boost my chances tremendously! i know lotza kids do take college classes tho so idk who im competing with

Don’t know how that works, babygrl9205. If anything, it should boost your chances.

mukula: “I know someone who got in from China…but I think she’s at the NYU London Campus.” I know someone who got LSP’ed and another two who got into schools of their choice. That’s confirmed. However, London? Is that a study abroad/LSP program?

If they mail the packages on Friday…does that mean as internationals, we ought to get something before Sunday?

Also, for rejections…I doubt they would foot the bill for couriers right?

And yeah, no problem.

@SleepingGrunt - I’m sorry, but I misinterpreted your question earlier (and therefore edited my original post). I answered according to last year’s stats.

As for the mailing packages, I think it depends upon where you live. Post offices are closed on Sundays, at least where I live, so I doubt I’ll be getting anything before next week. I don’t know why, but I feel like we’ll get e-mails before actual acceptance letters.

And about the rejections - there’s this whole rejections are mailed after acceptances theory which is most likely a myth. My suggestion? Call and ask. International students have that advantage, so why not just take it?

Yeah, but problem is, should I talk to the student ambassador or the actual officers? I called last week and an ambassador said international students will RECEIVE MAIL BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK, I repeated what he said to confirm it and he acknowledged it.

It’s getting ridiculous. No two answers are the same. Have you gotten anything from NYU besides the ‘hi we got your app bye’ email/letter?

Well, except for the “hi-bye” letter, I didn’t really get anything from them (unless of course, they responded to what I wrote to them). When did you call them last week (what date)? And when they said that international students will receive the mail by the middle of next week, do they mean the week of 14th December?

Same. I called them…a few days ago. Very recent, trust me, and that’s what the student ambassador told me. Yes, I was told we are supposed to get ‘MAIL’ by the middle of next week.

Oh, I missed the mail part of what you said. I assumed they meant email, but I guess I’m wrong. Maybe they meant email? This is very confusing. Well, I think one of us has to call them on Monday!

I have also been in contact with NYU, but only because I recently (Dec 2nd) went back for an audition. The peopl at Jazz Studies did not tell me much more about when I would hear than the website…

I have another question though…anyone here care to speculate about the big letter/small letter issue. I would initially be looking for a big letter but then rethought that NYU might not send out housing info etc until later, in which case a small letter may mean acceptance…thoughts?

@silentpilot - I’m not sure, but I think NYU sent off big purple letters to accepted students last year.

Yeah. Be sure to ask the same questions to see if we’re getting any consistencies in our answers lol. Honestly though? I have a feeling the student ambassador thought by ‘International’ that I’m in Canada. Sh_t happens I guess.

EDIT: Yes sir, we are apparently supposed to get a nice big envelope should we get in.

Well, that would certainly help. I have heard that Stanford does a similar strategy but with “Congratulations!” written on the front. I only wonder what dread would follow if a letter mix up put a rejection in a Congratulations envelope…

mukula…yeah its just even with the college stuff…i only got 3’s on my 2 AP tests wich i sent in late. like dec 2 late : / but i recorded it on my app. altho idk if they count that cuz its not verified. and then my subject scores were beyond horrible. my sat was good enough for an LSPer. and GPA is 4.2 weighted but thats not really that high either idt

columbia notified by email yesterday. i think that kinda sux in a way cuz then they just dont get the adrenaline rush when they open the package and its just not traditional. but they also get to find out before the mail comes…so idk. both ways are good…?

Sorry that I do not want to read through the 36 pages, but anyone here (this is so unlikely) applying ED to Steinhardt for Jazz Studies?

36 pages of an acceptance letter?

36 pages of the forum…

Yes, the pages of the thread. Should have specified, sorry.

oh gotcha!

k well im out for the night. skipped a shower so i can research on cc. and i didnt do any of my essay. i have 1/3 of it done. 1000/3000 words are written : / for my college class wich i have to submit tmw! this is my new facebook/time waster
