Official Emory Scholars Program Finalist Decisions

Has anyone been named as a Finalist in the Emory Scholars Program yet? If you have, go ahead and say so.

when do they notify?

i thought late february..i wasnt expecting anything any time soon

yeah..its late february..this thread is useless until then

Applications from Atlanta have heard...

(Two people have said so on Learnlink)

Definitely Atlanta folks have heard. S's girlfriend heard yesterday.

I didn't get Finalist, which is $18,000 I believe. Instead I got a Liberal Arts Scholarship, which is $10,000. Oh well, competition is very high and good job to all who did get it!

Steeler, if you don't mind answering, where are you from, and when did you find out? Dare I say Pittsburgh, haha?

I am from South Carolina, and I found out today.

So am I!..but my mailman comes around 4:30...the wait is killing me

No emory letter for me in Alabama...

I guess I wait until tuesday now...

I found out that im a finalist today. I live in Augusta, GA

Does being a finalist mean you are guaranteed at least 2/3 tuition?

good question..anybody?

i thought it meant that i would get 2/3 but i just asked my friend and he said that all finalists get a full tuition scholarship. I sent an email to emory, so hopefully they will write back soon.

I too am confused. My letter says I'm a "John Emory Scholar." I got the 2/3 tuition scholarship, but neither the word "finalist" nor anything about the interview weekend is mentioned. Am I a Scholar or not? Perhaps everyone is called "scholars" but those top 70 are finalists? Basically, do I get all those perks like first choice of housing and classes or not?

No, I do not believe this 2/3 gives you scholars standing. Do not take myword completely, but I'm rather sure only the 70 finalists get scholars standing. I have recieved my letter and did not get the finalist or 2/3, butthey did give me a 14,000 dollar renewable scholarship in the liberal arts.

yeah.. i agree with AR.. only finalists can become scholars.. but congrats on the money.. i have yet to recieve a letter up in nj

I don't know the answer, but if you look on the Emory website you will see the description of the John Emory Scholar as one of the scholarships given to "a select group of" Emory Scholars Finalists.

Everybody who gets money is technically an Emory Scholar.
