Aw man, and to think you waited until May 1st, then were forced to wait again. I'm pulling for you =) Anyways, seeming Braird got his not-good letter and it was in the beginning of the week, it obviously shows there is no "system" to them sending out the letters. Don't give up yet =) I would say that if you don't get something tomorrow (or can't check your mail until after their office closes), give them a call and just say "yes, I know I can't get my decision over the phone, but can you atleast check and see if a letter was sent?". You might also ask if they got your WL decision about staying on the list. good luck!

I just called them up and the response was, "by the end of the month".

Oh great.

That's BS. If I were you, i'd drive there personally and walk in and ask what's up. Then again, the Waitlist FAQ ( http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/documents/TransferWLFAQ2.pdf ) said they would spend about two weeks determining how many spots they have, which would put them at June, then I assume they go back and reread some apps. Just look at the bright side: you wern't at the top of the rejection list, so there's still hope. I now just hope you get accepted so you can just go nuts when you get the letter since you've been basically waiting almost 4 months now. Geez, we did applications that long ago?

I read on the UVa website that they are gonna re-evaluate the waitlisted applicants - they want to maintain that in-state/OOS balance. So I guess they're accepting/rejecting in state students first. Either way, I'm just fed up waiting for so long. When I called I also asked the guy that two weeks ago this lady told me decisions were gonna be sent out by this week, and all he said was "at the end of this month".

I can't help but feel pessimistic though. Don't they send letters to accepted students first? Rejection letters usually come in the end.

(Braird, please don't take offense to my thread, you're just the only person who got WL and rejected...i'm so sorry, and good luck in the future =) maybe you will one day be the boss of a UVA student and look back and laugh at all of this)

MightyNick- Braird got a rejection letter Monday. With that, my guess is they're sending out rejections first. It seems smarter to do that anyways, because it will keep numbers lower since if a ton of the acceptees don't accept the offer, the office won't feel compelled to send out more acceptance letters. Then again, they might be reading through the files one at a time and deciding right then and there. So, like I said, I think your wait is a good sign: they may be deliberating over you vs someone else. Send Oliva Hessing (look her up on UVA's main page people search, as I don't have her email on this computer) an email expressing a ton of interest. You never know, it may push you over the edge if they're stuck on you :)

Ok, so it's time to admit it: when I sent in mid-semester grades, I definently included with my letter (ofcourse, expressing total interest/want for UVA) a "101 Reasons I Want to Attend UVA". I think I got in off of that hahahah

LOL! They must have been impressed. I also sent a letter expressing my interest but I doubt anyone read it and it must have been lost somewhere in those big stacks of incoming mail they get every day. I'll send an email, but I think its too late now! Who knows, maybe my rejection letter is on its way and I might get it tomorrow evening. From experience, Friday is my most unlucky day. Last year, I always got my rejection letters on a Friday.

Friday gone and still no response. GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

$(%&($&$&(%#$&%$ I'm going NUTS!!!

Shoebox-- no offense taken. I am clearly a victim of UVa's agreement with Virginia community colleges-- I would be a third year student. At some point that agreement is going to rear its ugly head and cause problems. In the meantime I am moving on.

Any news MightyNick??? I STILL have NOT got my letter... I am CRAZY now...

Neither have I. W T F is wrong?!!! ARGHHHHHHH! They won't answer my question either. All they say is end of the month.

June 27 "went by" and Nothing!!!

I don't think we'll get anything before Friday. And I'm pretty sure its gonna be a rejection letter coz its already been so late. I just don't care anymore and am looking forward to going to UMich.

Finally, I got the damn letter!!!!!

WOOT! Thanks UVA for your prompt response. NOT.

I'm rejected btw.

Holy ****.

I think that's all I can say in a time like this. Besides the usual "That sucks so much man, you waited all that time (from March 1st basically) and they take forever to get you your letter and you're flat out denied and now that UVA has ripped your little heart out and trampled it, you can now put it back in gleaming with blue and gold pride and do well in life"

Nah. Holy ****.

You took the words right out of my mouth. When I saw the letter, it said "return service requested" on the front. For a second I thought maybe I got accepted! But once I opened the letter I saw a small paragraph which said, "Thanks for you interest in the University of Virginia blah blah blah"...you probably know the rest. I was a little surprised, but not as shocked as 2 months ago when I couldn't believe I got wait-listed. All I can say is, maybe I should have had a 4.0 college GPA rather than a 3.93. My essays weren't so bad either (I actually had my English teacher at PSU read them and she thought they were good). It could have been my high school record because I wasn't in the top 10% despite a 3.85 weighted GPA (with many honors and AP courses) - but I did go to a top 2 public school. I did get into UMich too - whose acceptance rate for transfers is around 39% and UVA's is around 37% - not much of a difference there. I really don't understand where I fell short.

Holy ****.

It's unfortunate, MightNick. Blame the back-assward community college transfer program that they've recently started pursuing.

Thank you Cav. I agree. Ohdear, if anyone starts telling Cav and I about how hard CC kids work and how unfortunent they are, please start another thread, don't clog up this one. It's an old and stupid battle. But, MightyNick, you got screwed, and it was probably in part to the "back-assward CC transfer program" that UVA thinks will make itself a better school.

Stupid f***ing General Assembly.

For me the only consolation is I got in UMich, which is an equivalent school to UVA. If they had rejected me too then I would have lost faith in the college system of this country!! And yeah, I would have gone mental too.

Anyways, its been nice talking to you shoebox and cavalier. Hope you have the time of your lives at UVA.

Peace.

Michigan is a great school. You'll be fine there. My only problem with it would be the cold (lol), but Ann Arbon is a great town.

When I was applying the first time around my dad wanted me to look at UChicago and Michigan. His exact words were "it's cold as a witche's tit up there".
But I agree, you'll do fine. Best of luck, and let us know what happens up there :)
