Official Fall '07 Transfer Thread =)

Bice is on campus housing but its apartment style and its right next to off campus housing it's a nice local.
I'm an e-school transfer student from Northwestern.

does anyone know when we'll get finaid? will that be sent along with the admissions offer?

First year transfer to CAS

I’ve really enjoyed reading this forum. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you for posting here because you have provided me with a lot of comfort this past year. It’s nice to know there are people with the same problems and concerns as me.

I was finally accepted this time after my second attempt. For all of those who weren’t accepted, don‘t let it get you down. Eventually, you will get there.

I have a 3.4 gpa and did horrible on the SAT-980 so I know this is the only reason I got in.

anyone else find this sad?

No, not really. SATs arent factored into third-year transfer admission. He met the guidelines of the agreement so he was able to partake in it. I think your gripe should be with the agreement itself and not this particular student.

OOS, 3.91 college gpa (at psu), 3.85 W HS gpa, 2010 sat....waitlisted. honestly, i was a little surprised.

MightyNick- what school did you apply to?

CAS. 10 char

I am a transfer for third year, and am on the wait list for the CAS comming from a Virginia CC. I have every requirement met for UVA except for the last part of the foreign language requirement. Any idea on why I was wait listed? I can finish up the language in the fall.

They might want to see your spring semester grades. I think they sometimes wait-list a student on that basis, there was poster a while back on here who was wait-listed then got accepted like 5 days after he sent his transcript.

MightyNick I would also say thats fairly surprising.

I also have to, in part, agree with ryan2288, although I find the system sad and not that particular students case.

I think the VCCS transfer agreement should not give a guaranteed transfer to anyone above a certain GPA in a VCC. Regardless of GPA, every transfer applicant should be considered in their own standing. Thats not to say that this person did not deserve to transfer to UVa at all, that might not be the case, but allowing everyone to do so without review is... well... ridiculous.

ACCEPTED!!!!

yyyaayyy!! I was so nervous to check it, but I got in I got in I got in! I'm extremely excited. Now to just convince the parents... =P
I'll be living on -campus, hopefully in Lambeth or Bice.

Stats:
Residency: IS-NoVa
Applied from: VT-Engineering
Applied to: E-school
Standing: Freshman/first-year
GPA: 3.1 overall first semester, 3.22 in engineering
SAT: 1380
HS GPA: 3.7W, no rank, 8 APs
Mid-Semester Report: all As except B in calc and B+ in Linear Algebra
ECs: good in high school, nothing stellar, but strong overall...college I have SGA, Society of Women Engineers, and I have an internship with an engineering company this summer
Essays: these are what got me in I think. I poured m heart into them and took 2 pages of Word (12 ft) for each. These were truely the high point, in addition to the letter I sent with my mid-semester reports. I figured if I explained my overall content with the school, everything would just fit together. But I had reasons, quite strong ones too.

congrats, shoebox! Now why would you need to convince your parents to let you come here? lol

congrats to all.

Shoe--know how much you wanted this. Congrats

Is it harder for OOS transfers to get in than IS? I know this is true for freshman admissions.

Congrats Shoebox!!! I'm glad you got in!!

yeah it is considerably harder for OOS to get in. UVA gives privileges to in state/community college kids.

Shoe, clear your PM box! lol, I tried to reply but it rejected it.

I'll just say it here. CONGRATS!!!! We all know how much you wanted this and I am so happy for you!

I know you will thrive at UVa and love it there. I just sent in my deposit today so I will be there too

Haha sorry ehiunno, my message to you filled it up.

And to all: Congrats!
