Official Fall 2010 Transfer Thread!

Ok, so I was just reading up on some TX legislation (what a strange thing to do) and I thought I’d check to see if top ten rule applied to transfer students as well as freshmen. I am a freshman at another university, and I graduated HS in 2009 ranked #1 in my class.
This is what the bill says:
A "general academic teaching institution shall admit an applicant for admission to the
institution as an undergraduate student if the applicant graduated
with a grade point average in the top 10 percent of the student’s
high school graduating class in one of the two school years
preceding the academic year for which the applicant is applying for
admission and the applicant graduated from a public or private high
school in this state accredited by a generally recognized
accrediting organization or from a high school operated by the
United States Department of Defense. To qualify for admission
under this section, an applicant must submit an application before
the expiration of any application filing deadline established by
the institution and, if the applicant graduated from a high school
operated by the United States Department of Defense, must be a Texas
resident under Section 54.052 or be entitled to pay tuition fees at
the rate provided for Texas residents under Section 54.058(d) for
the term or semester to which admitted. "
As far as I can tell, that doesn’t exclude freshmen studying at another universities… Does anyone know for sure if top ten applies to transfer students?

The section Sec. 51.803 of the administrative code that this is part of is a section about admission of first-year college students.
quote Each public university shall admit first-time undergraduate students for each semester in accordance with Texas Education Code, §§51.801 - 51.809.

Hrmm, I see that now, the bill I was reading last night was only showing 51.803, which doesn’t specifically state what kind of undergraduates it applies to. But, I see the part you’re talking about in 51.802.

@UTUCB12–
Same Question as MIT 2014, what indicator courses?
For engineering, that’d be Calc 1 &2, Physics, and Chem.

For all you other engineering majors that were accepted, if you could post which of these indicator classes you’ve completed as well it’d be very much appreciated! :]

"We’ve received all the items needed to review your application for admission. " Tired of seeing this message every time i check

I had completed Cal I and II, Cal Physics I, Chem I and II. I’m about to finish Cal 3, Cal physics 2, and Biology I.

@HpAshley2009

I completed cal I & II, differential equations, chem I & II, and biology I.

Congrats, future LONGHORNS!!
If any of yall need a place to stay at next fall, we need a 4th roommate @J26!

We’ve received all the items required to process your application. We’re currently reviewing your application for admission. Once a decision has been made, you will be notified by mail and your decision will be posted on this page.

ok i’ve been seeing this for soooo long. i applied for aerospace engineering. engineering people said they got accepted. did anyone get a rejection or something or if we havent got our acceptane yet we are to assume we got rejected ? damn this is killing me and it makes problems with roomate finding in my current college.

I even haven’t seen this message: We’ve received all the items required to process your application. We’re currently reviewing your application for admission. Once a decision has been made, you will be notified by mail and your decision will be posted on this page.
UT…i have nothing to say…it’s my first choice but it seems that i need to apply it for the third time next year…

the thing is i need to book flights and all that im international so i need to book early to get good rates! and the whole housing situation having people waiting for me to tell them if im staying or not…

Do you have 30 or more hours completed?

Did you submit everything on time?

I have had that message currently, I turned in everything, I have 30 hours completed, I guess natural sciences have not sent out answers yet because I all see is COLA and Engineering people posting so far.

yeah i submitted with 30+ hours. i got 16 credits last semester and like 28 credit from highschool, a-levels. i applied for aerospace engineering and that is what is worrying me because engineering people got their replies. my second choice was astronomy i don’t know if they are now reviewing me for that…

Did anyone’s status go from “we have recieved all items… the committee is currently reviewing your application for admission” to just “we have recieved all the items needed to review your application for admission” before you guys were accepted or rejected?

Mine just went to “We’ve received all the items needed to review your application for admission” and I’m still waiting for their decision.

i think this MAY mean that we got rejected for our first choice…im just guessing though

what makes you say that?

did anyone that got accepted see that on their status check page?

Mine has been "We’ve received all the items needed to review your application for admission. " for a looong time :S

really? like how long? Sorry, I am just really nervous!
