Official Fall 2010 Transfer Thread!

Congratulations to everyone who got in!

I’m still taking Calculus I in cc and thought would not know until May after I submit my Cal I grade. It’s a surprise. Now I plan to complete Calc II and Calc III in summer.

Did they just post it this evening???

ha ok @txrex your just more motivation for me 2 make it happen

see you in a year

I got accepted into electrical engineering!

3.52 GPA with no letters of rec or ECs.

This has to be one of the most stressful months ever! I was wondering if anyone had heard back in the Civil or Architectural Engineering majors.
I applied as transfer for this fall, but my college GPA is kind of low (3.025). However, I’m coming from a very competetive (elite east coast) school that I simply can’t justify staying at. The waiting is driving me crazy, because I’ve had to register for housing and classes here while hoping for an acceptance to UT.
So, any word?

3.025 is really low. From what people have said you basically need at least a 3.5 to be competitive. And some people have already been rejected that we thought were going to get accepted. I think you would be lucky to get offered admission… :frowning: sorry, just going to tell you what I have heard…

What school are you trying to transfer from?

I’m trying to transfer from Duke. I’m a freshman, and so only one semester counts for GPA. It’s pretty low because I missed extensive class last semester after getting flu and then pneumonia during midterms…

Architectural Engineering is the hardest engineering department to get into. I would be very surprised if you were accepted. Were you allowed to request a second choice major?

well how many hours do you have completed? because if you don’t have thirty then they won’t review your application… so there could still be hope with your spring transfer perhaps.

I have about 50 hours complete from last semester and APs. That is, I have 15 course credits here, and if you multiply by 3.5 you get 50 something… Hours are weird.

Oh, and I put Civil as my second major. I’m in the engineering school here.

mmk. yeah, I think 3.025 is just to low. :(

Just wanted to know if you knew how hard it is to get into biology in the natural sciences?

@bignasty36 - Sorry, no - I know about ArchE because my dad is an ArchE prof.

When did you guys that have already received acceptance notification apply? How long before the deadline I mean…

I submitted my app on 2/22. Got accepted on 4/15.

Has everyone else’s (except those of you who have gotten in, congrats!) UT page said “the admissions committe is currently reviewing your application” since March? I’m just curious if that is the default, or if it actually means something.

Yea, my page has been like that since march! It must be a default…
