So you want to get into mccombs? Did you take micro, macro, calc 1 and 2?

I thought you couldn’t transfer to UT with 90+ hours. At least that’s what it says on their Admissions site.

hmm I would think you would be able to just transfer 90 hours if that’s the case, I have no idea though.

100 credits?? You’re that close to graduating and you want to transfer?

Ahhhh…it’s for the name of the school on the diploma, isn’t it?

Sorry I just tried to find where it said the 90 hour rule and couldn’t find it, maybe I mistook UT’s Admissions for another institution’s Admissions site.

Is it possible for admissions decisions to come out earlier for transfer applicants? I can’t imagine waiting until April!!

Consider yourself lucky, I have to wait until the end of May.

Anybody knows when should we start looking for acceptance/rejection letters in our mail?

Late May for those who have completed 30 hours, late June for those of us that have to resend our transcripts.

Wow, College Confidential! I haven’t been here in ages.

I’m applying as an out of state transfer as a “non-degree” seeking student to the College of Natural Sciences (computer science).

Will have BA in Political Science and Minor in economics as of Spring 2010 from Washington University in St. Louis
Major GPA: 3.85
Overall GPA: 3.54 (freshman year = 3.2)
ACT: 34
SAT: 2270

The Good:
+Lots of extracurriculars/intern experience, including semi-impressive ones–but not all directly related to Computer Science
+I feel like I did well on my essay, which traces my arc from liberal arts to computer science
+I have a history with Web Design, which is mildly computer sciencey
+From obscure state (Arkansas—but this is also a negative, because I’m out of state)
+High level math courses (took Calculus III while still in high school and qualified for AIME)

The Bad:
-Out of State
-Did not ask for recommendation b/c I only have one computer science course while in college
-GPA took a slight dip senior year 1st semester
-I’m old (22)

I’m pretty nervous, and I’m not taking anything for granted. I’m considering reapplying in Spring if I don’t get in this time.

I hope to eventually apply to a Masters in Computer Science Program, but I need to fulfill some undergrad requirements…and I really, really want to go to UT.

I’m sorry, but that’s a damn joke that we have to wait until late May. We still have to find places to live once we’ve been accepted.

what’s even more ridiculous is that the other school I am applying to has a deadline of May 1 to accept admittance. So if I reject that school and Texas then rejects me… I’m not going to college anywhere? I am going to call Admissions this week and beg for them to make a decision.

^LOL I like that idea actually. Tell us how it goes.

How out of the question would it be to try and get an application in now?? I have heard of people turning an application in past the deadline. Does anyone know how one would go about that?

I really don’t think they would go for that…Give the admissions center a call.

Alright, I just registered to this forum, because I need to see if I can get some straight answers. I have been hearing mixed things about the UT College of Communication, and what its competitiveness is for transferring in for the Fall 2010.

I am coming from a local community college with a 3.6 with an associates in Business Administration. Initially, I wanted to try for McCombs but I didn’t want to take one course of calculus 2 for one semester to be even considered for admission, so I managed to find a back up plan in UT’s communication dept. I was accepted last semester in their college of undergraduate studies, but decided to finish my associates at my community college. So, what do you guys think? Thank you in advance.

About two weeks ago my status changed to the committee is currently reviewing your application.

same as mine, i called them thinking that it would be soon since its been “reviewed” but they still said late may.

I’m assuming that both of you are already done with the thirty hours right?

GPA: 3.95
44 hours completed.
