Okay, for people with impacted majors, a 4.0 + little ecs is pretty much rejected right?

How about for unimpacted majors? Something like a 3.5-3.8 overall GPA + little ecs?

Thanks in advance :]

You’re an interesting one, Gu3rilla. You have things that are good, and things that aren’t so great. The 3.5 UC GPA is good, but the trend (with all B’s last semester) is not. You’re in the honors program, and that looks great.

UCB average GPA accepted was 3.53 according to statfinder for architecture, and the average yield GPA is 3.5. You say your essays are strong, and that’s very important. All this being said, I would say you have a 65% chance of being accepted.

UCLA accepts 11.25% of applicants for architecture, and the average GPA admitted was 3.65. My guess is that unless your portfolio can push you over the edge, your chances are not spectacular. I would estimate 35% chance.

Obviously you’re in at UCSD and UCD with TAG’s. We applied to the same schools, let’s hope for the best!

lookin, I would say you are in at UCD, UCI, UCSD, and UCLA (because of TAP). I would say that you’re a pretty big reach for UCB because of how competitive sociology is there.

just bumpin my stats added some stuff for stanford chancing :D

Major: Mechanical Engineering (Cal, UCLA, UCD)
UC GPA: 3.93
Major GPA: 4.0
IGETC GPA: no IGETC for engineering
pre-reqs: semi-done(ok C++ programming PREFFERED but im taking a C/C++ hybrid thing)
IGETC: nada non-existent
TAG/TAP: no
SATS: 2320/2400 1580/1600 M:800 CR:780 W:740
Letters of Rec: stellar from 2 professors, stanford alum,
EC’s: Working experience mortgage firm, shipping company, insurance company, tutoring math and science, varsity golf in hs, us naval sea cadet, awards and honors, SLAC internship(didnt have it when I applied to the UCs), Phi Theta Kappa(how the hell did I Forget this in my original post).
Essay: about 8/10 ish im not the greatest writer in the world.
Other: took Honors classes in CCC

^^ in everywhere except stanford…stanford is just too hard to say

btw what ccc do you go to? ccsf?

also, emilsinclair9, how do you make a table showing the architecture stats. i don’t know how to make it lol ^____^;;

^^ I go to American River College in sacramento. haha this place is interesting… thanks for the chancing tho. i know stanford is a longshot but maybe, just maybe…then again I feel the same way about the lottery. hahaha. anyone else have input?

Major: History
Community colleges attended: SBCC
UC GPA: 2.4, will be higher after Fall grades are updated (claims my counselor)
Applying to: UCSB, UCLA
Prereqs: I’ll be done with all my pre-reqs the spring before UC enrollment
IGETC: Partially certified, still need to do math and science
TAG/TAP: no
ECs: I have been working at a history publishing company for 2 years, full time.
Other: I have 3 F’s which I have made up with A’s and 4 W’s. A rough year for me financially which I will explain in my essay.
I also have a liberal arts: with emphasis in Arts&Humanities AA degree.

I have 8 classes left to take before transfer – if I get A’s in all of them, will this show I have overcome my questionable transcript?

^^ im not sure about ucsb but ucla is probably a rejection with those grades. I suggest academic renewal and a HUGE upturn in academic performance then you are looking at a congratulations on top of your letter from ucla.

Good new your in history bad news 2.4 hmm 8 classes to go is roughly 24 units~ so with a 4.0 in everything you can definitely boost it up

thanks peterr86. so if I get all A’s in these next 8 classes I’ll have a 4.0?

no you’ll have maybe a 3.0

36x 2.4=86 grade points

24x4.0=96 grade points

182/60=3.03 gpa

still 4.0 in the rest of the units will equal a 3.03 gpa

Alright, janet, I started off with a 1.0 seriously. Horrible first semester: 2 F’s, 1 D, 3 A’s…of course the A’s weren’t transferrable and the bad grades were lmao. I applied for Academic Renewal (i.e. GPA not affected by renewed grades) and received it. I’ve done really well since then, and now I have a 3.76.

Seriously look into Academic Renewal. If that isn’t possible get ALL A’s. If you do that, your grade trend will look great, and you’ll be competitive anywhere. Also, I would recommend retaking a few of those classes in which you received bad grades if your Academic Renewal can’t happen.

Gu3rilla, go to UC statfinder. Click on Custom Tables. Click on Undergrad Admissions rates and counts. You should be able to navigate fine from there. Hope that helps :).

btw SFwarrior, I would say you are IN at all of them…including stanford. Recs from stanford alumnus, naval cadet, great GPA, and plenty of work experience. As I continued through your stats and entire post, I couldn’t help but keep thinking that you are Stanford’s prototype i.e. life experience, hard working, interesting, etc.

Last consecutive post I promise lol. Janet, I didn’t see that you retook those classes already and got A’s and 4 W’s. I would suggest that you just get great grades (ideally A’s), and if you can do that, you could seriously get into the top UC’s…or at least have a solid shot. Btw one of Berkeley’s major considerations for admittance is grade trends. If you have can hit a stellar upward trend, I would say you have a pretty good shot there.

Don’t know how you feel about Berkeley, but if you’re interested, get those grades, and you can do it.

emilsinclair, thank you!! I am going to try my best to get tht upward trend. UCSB is my first choice for convenience, but if I would love to go to UCB if I got in!

One last question, if you take one of your major preps at a UC (SBCC does not offer a history class at a convenient time for me, but UCSB does) would that help your chances…for anything?

To be honest, I’m not entirely sure; I’ve never done it. However, if you get an A, I would think that will definitely look good. If you get a C or less, obviously that will really hurt your chances.

BUMP. Please chance me :)

@emilsinclair9 I’d say 75ish for both

@Janet 717 w/o academic renewal (3.0 GPA) 25ish UCLA and 60ish UCSB

@SFwarrior 99.5 all UCs Stanford… idk… 83ish? (only because they hate transfers)

@mdub1491 99.5% all

@D34N There are always alternatives. I went to 3 different colleges in order to get all the pre-reqs done. 87ish- 93ish Berkeley 92ish -97ish UCLA (would be 99.5% with pre-reqs)

@Kellic03 75ish -90ish all (if you got 10/10 on essays, probably 95+ all)

Major: History (Cal, UCLA, UCSD)
UC GPA: 3.84
Major GPA: 4.0
pre-reqs: done for UCLA and Cal 1/2 for UCSD
IGETC: done
TAG/TAP: no
EC’s: Museum Volunteer, always worked while taking classes
Other: no heavy class loads. first generation highschool and college.
Essay: 8/10 possibly 8.5
