UC GPA: 3.93
Major GPA: 4.0
IGETC GPA: no IGETC for engineering

IGETC: nada non-existent
TAG/TAP: no
EC’s: Working experience mortgage firm, shipping company, insurance company, tutoring math and science, varsity golf in hs, us naval sea cadet, i forgot what else i put on there haha

Other: took Honors classes in CCC
prompt 2 8/10 ish.

@Playahate- I have essentially the same statistics as you (you have a .01 higher gpa but I did the recomended calc series) and they said 65%. The average GPA of ccc transfer students for political economy at cal is in the 3.6 range and last year 28/51 people who had a gpa of 3.6-3.79 got in to multi/interdisciplinary studies. Hope that helps, I know its not really a chance.

@flatfooted

Not much of a shot at any tbh (sub 10%) 3.3~ gpa was the average for sb/sd/irvine and without calculus that will hurt

SD requires not only cal 1/2 it also needs calc 3

@iZychr: it shouldn’t be impacted, but admission to most engr school is competitive (as they said on Assist), so I’m not sure…

@emil

You should repost in the format most of these are posted in you also didn’t list the applied colleges

Thanks peterr86, you’re right. Well I applied to UCB and UCLA. I have TAG’s everywhere else. The format I posted in was because I felt I had unique and possibly detrimental drawbacks to my application. I described them on Page 10. Nonetheless, I’ll keep it simple here:

3.74 UC GPA.
Major: UCB - Phil UCLA - Psych
IGETC: Already done.
E.C.'s - 120 hours at assisted living center for elderly, 25 hours tutoring kids, 3 part-time jobs.
Norcal resident.
Great upward trend (1.0 < first semester - 4.0 < last semester).
Essays: 8/10.
Prereqs: Done for Cal. 1 IP for UCLA and the rest are done.

i would say 60% chance for Cal

Actually i relook over your post why would you apply psych at ucla your still in but it’s much more competitve than phil 1200 applied last year vs only 300 for phil.

3.7 was average admit for psych so i would say 60% chance

Well actually, I applied to UCLA psychology. I wrote it above, but didn’t specify in words that I had applied to 2 different majors. So, do you think my chances of getting into UCLA are still solid?

Here’s my stats, let me know what think,

UC’s: UCLA, Berkeley, Santa Barbara, San Diego
Major: History (for all schools)
GPA: 4.0 (through 62.5 units) (10.6 units are AP units)
Prereqs: UCLA 4/4. Berkeley 3/4. Santa Barbara 3/5. San Diego 1/2.
IGETC: Already completed.
TAG/TAP: none
EC: 3-year Varsity Baseball Player in HS. Captain of the Speech and Debate Team in HS. I currently work for the Parks and Recreation in my city.
Essay: 8/10
Other: Transferring a year early (one year out of high school) because of AP units and taking night classes when I was a Sophomore, Junior and Senior.

@mdub1491, will all of your prereqs be completed this semester and are in progress? Or will you finish this semester lacking all of those prereqs?

To the first situation: I would say you’re probably in everywhere.
To the latter: In at UCLA, and UCSD. Unsure about SB and Cal. I would say 60% chance for both.

UC’s: Berkeley, UCLA, San Diego
Major: Philosophy
GPA: 3.94… strong upward trend
Units completed: 72 by end of spring
Prereqs: Berkeley (“no courses articulated”), UCLA (I took the one course my college offers, so 1/4), San Diego (“no course articulated”)
IGETC: will be completed by end of Spring
TAG/TAP: TAP at UCLA
EC: Part time construction job 25hrs./wk, honors program (completed by Spring)
Essay: 7/10
Other: California resident, I was on academic probation in 2005 at a different cc than the one I am attending now

@D34N

You’re in everywhere!

Though, did you retake all the courses you bad initially (to get you on academic probation)?

@preditcthisflick

… well yea, I did academic renewal and that covered all the poor grades I received back in 2005… I just had a D and an F left over and I retook those courses and got A’s… and at my new cc I have pretty much taken comparable courses for all of the classes I did academic renewal on at my old cc… so, i did academic renewal and i retook comparable courses at a different college…

Thanks for the feedback… I’m goin’ crazy waiting around…

anybody else have any different thoughts? feel free to jump in?

much appreciated :-)

D34N we have alot in common. Philosophy majors, we both make extensive use of Academic Renewal lol, and we both have strong upward trends.

Which school would you go to if you were accepted to all of them? Oh and btw I would say you are definitely in everywhere.

I want to go to Cal, but I think I’ll switch to psychology if I go there.

@emilsinclair9

haha… yea that academic renewal is a life saver rt?

yea I wanna go to Cal too… then UCLA and UCSD are kinda tied for second… I also applied to Irvine and Davis, but I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that, haha…

Really though, I would be supper happy to get the chance to go to any of those schools, especially after the poor start I had at community college…

Thanks for the feedback… hopefully both of us will be up at Cal in the Fall

Applying to: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCSC, UCD,

Tagged: UCD, UCSC, (no reply from UCSD or UCSB)

First Generation
Major: #1 Political Science #2 History (All Schools)
GPA: 3.43 (I calculated it myself) p.s. it would be like 3.7/3.8 except for a D in stats…took it again over summer and received a C…I received all A’s in pre-reqs though :(/:slight_smile:
IGETC: Done
Essays: 8/10-10/10, I had a UCB admissions counselor look at them an she said not to change anything :). + unique situation (like everyone else…right? lol)
Pre-Req’s: Almost all done for all schools
EC’s:
*Speech and Debate 1 yr.
*Internship at political non-profit
*Working 20-30 hrs. a week
*Phi Theta Kappa
*Received AA Degree while at CCC

BTW Emilsinclair - I do have an upward trend…all W’s first semester except in Guidance and then all A’s and B’s except a C in Chem and D in Stats, which I made up.

good shot at every location poli sci not very impacted except maybe at berk

thanks for chancing me peterr86! MORE CHANCES PLEASE!

@emilsinclair9 I’d say 70ish for both

@mdub1491 99.5% all

@D34N There are always alternatives. I went to 3 different colleges in order to get all the pre-reqs done. 87ish- 93ish Berkeley 92ish -97ish UCLA (would be 99.5% with pre-reqs)

@Kellic03 75ish -90ish all (if you got 10/10 on essays, probably 95+ all)

Major: History (Cal, UCLA, UCSD)
UC GPA: 3.84
Major GPA: 4.0
pre-reqs: done for UCLA and Cal 1/2 for UCSD
IGETC: done
TAG/TAP: no
EC’s: Museum Volunteer, always worked while taking classes
Other: no heavy class loads. first generation highschool and college.
Essay: 8/10 possibly 8.5
