Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

Do they give out guarantee transfers for transfer applicants?

I faxed my midterm report and it was processed and noted on my portal the very same day!

For summer I’m taking Managerial Accounting, doing yoga, and enjoying my city before I move.

Really ILRgirl? When did you fax it? I sent it at the end of the day today, hopefully they get it tomorrow.

Do they give out guarantee transfers for transfer applicants?

@something, I faxed it early morning Friday the 9th and I saw it on my portal that afternoon. Faxing is definitely faster than mailing it. I also made sure to label it with Attention:Transfer Processor. Did you do this?

@Matisyahu, from what I’ve heard, the guarantee program is for high school senior applicants who are qualified but didn’t get in for the freshman year. They are allowed to enter Cornell as transfers if they maintain a certain GPA. If you don’t get in this time, the best best is to apply again for the Spring. I wonder what they think of this though…Anyone know if it increases your chances?

Oh wow, that is quick! I didn’t do that, but I faxed it to the transfer processing number, so it shouldn’t be an issue. I didn’t fax it until about 4 though, and the office closes at 430. Hopefully it shows up today. Did you fax it to 6072555452

hey guys, I see on the portal it doesnt say anything about an ILR interview, so do we not have to do it?!

My application has been forwarded for review…but I haven’t sent my midterm report in yet. So, I am not sure how that is going to work…

@Matisyahu yes they do give GT for transfer applicants, and from what I have seen from reading previous CC boards is that they give them out to transfers quite often. However, most of the time it was because the student didn’t have all the prereqs or something of that nature. So they would have an extra semester to complete them before heading to Cornell. So yes, getting a GT for next Spring as a transfer is very possible.

@Anothershot11 - when you send in your midterm, make sure to fax it! I mailed mine on Feb 24 and they never got it and I faxed it yesterday and they processed it today! Just talked to a nice lady in the CAS office and she said we’d start hearing back in a few weeks and it’d be via mail not a phone call.

even though i sent my college report a while back, should i refax it? i called the school but only got voicemails saying they’ll contact us if they need us to resend something.

@something12345 - around mid-April I heard. Via Mail huh?

How is everyone going to deal with the stress of waiting?
I suggest - Run dancing - running while dancing.

That’s what the lady said!

@Chris - Call the CAS office (you can find the number of their website), not the transfer admissions office! You’ll get someone to talk to you who can check on the status of your application, call the transfer admissions office and talk to someone even though we can’t directly, and give you advice on what to do next! They’ll probably suggest you fax it but I would call just to be sure.

@something, I faxed to the same number :)

Somehow I’m not so stressed out about waiting. Actually I’m relieved the application process is over  yoga is extremely relaxing though! Running is great of course too.

And I agree with something about calling first. The portal says not to send duplicate copies of documents.

Its been a month since I sent in my midterm report. I was concerned, so I emailed the transfer advisor I’ve been working closely with. He was able to tell me within an hour that they did receive it, and that the portal should be updated soon. I would find a transfer advisor to email. One thing I’ve learned about Cornel: They rock at responding to emails!

As for dealing with stress… I’m trying to stay in the moment. I do yoga and meditate as well, and that seems to help. One thing I’ve noticed, is when I spend too much time obsessing about the future, the high-pay-off activities that I should be doing in that moment suffer. Worst case scenario I don’t get in. That would be a major bummer… but It won’t kill me. What has been even harder is embracing the fact that i’m considered a “long-shot” — just teasing ; )

Be here now, everyone. Best of luck.

It seems a lot of girls are doing yoga for stress relief.
MMA training is good too.

I’m also glad that everything is in. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we all got in? We could have a CC party

My advisor sent off most of my application materials a little before March 1st, and one of my recommenders sent his letter off while before that. But none of my stuff has been updated by Cornell. Did anyone send off their application materials around the deadline? If so, has it appeared as received on the website? I know they say it takes around 2 weeks to process, but I’m so nervous!

@Matis- I love MMA! I do Ninjutsu and the Art of Combat, they are both GREAT stress relievers. Also, very empowering.

@Maconn- I sent some of my stuff in near the deadline and 3 items have yet to be officially processed. I have, however, confirmed through a transfer advisor that they have arrived. Which school did you apply to? Have you been working with a transfer advisor?

@LilyDrenn Thank you for your reply. I am applying to CALS. I actually was just looking for a transfer advisor, as you spoke of contacting one in one of your previous posts. However, I looked through CALS and couldn’t find one. Do have any suggestions on where I can look to find one? And are they college specific? Thanks!
