Official FALL 2012 Cornell Transfers

@ILRgirl I’m not too stressed about waiting either… at least for now. Don’t have to worry about getting any other materials in and we know we won’t hear back for a while. Definitely going to start stressing in April when it’s possible that we hear back any day!! The thought of it makes me nervous…

A teacher sent my LOR within the first few days of February. I submitted everything else on the deadline or even after the deadline and all my stuff is in and acknowledged on the portal (had to send in transcripts and college reports from 4 different colleges). Did you all write your name and birth date on each page of each document you submitted?

@ILRgirl. I submitted transcripts from 3 different colleges, a high school transcript, an individual teacher rec, and then my advisor sent a packet containing the rest of the materials. A couple things were sent early February and then the rest was sent a little before the deadline. I told my teachers to write my full name and date of birth on each page of their recs, and I did the same. Still, nothing has shown up!

@Maconn, I would definitely call the school you’re applying to (not the transfer office!). They’ve been very helpful clearing things up with me and I’m sure they would be with you as well.

Also, I just finished submitting my supplements to all of my schools! I’m completely done, now we wait…

So far for me, Cornell has been incredible at responding to phone calls. But I only ever called ILR, never the transfer admissions.

@Maconn, I’m not sure if you did this but I had to send in an official school report from each college, not just the one I attend currently.

@something12345, Thanks for your suggestion! I will for sure call tomorrow. Is it the individual colleges that sort and acknowledge materials received on the portal? If so, maybe CALS is just behind the other colleges.

@ILRgirl, was that a requirement for all the colleges at Cornell? I just sent the report for the college I’m currently attending since the transfer application instructions didn’t say ALL colleges like it did for college transcripts.

Now I’m freaking out…

Hey Maconn- I searched the CALS website, as I’m sure you did, and found this email address: cals_admissions@cornell.edu. Have you tried to contact someone through this email? If not, I would give it a shot. It might even be a good idea to ask for the contact information for a transfer advisor. I met the individual I’ve been working with at my CC’s Transfer Day back in November, and he has be instrumental in my moving through this process smoothly. If you can connect with someone similar, I’m sure you’ll get all of your questions answered. However, I have also been in contact with the ILR Admissions department, and they were very helpful. As Something said, it’s probably best to contact your school (CALS), as opposed to general admissions.

P.S. For anyone who hasn’t had their financial aid docs processed: I turned everything in almost a month ago (in a ridiculous binder with tabs and sticky notes lol) and the Financial Aid To-Do List still reflects my need for these documents. I received an email, in response to an inquiry, and was told that financial aid docs for transfers aren’t priority right now, as the freshman applicants have an earlier deposit deadline than we do. Our documents should be processed by the end of April or early May.

I sent in my midterm report today.

All the rest is up to the Ivy Gods.

May the force be with us all.

To infinity, and beyond!

when i checked my application status, they received my high school transcript and my college transcript but my teachers recommendation and the college officials report still had the big X next to it… the weird thing is, I had all of those documents in one big envelope.
What does this mean? :(

@LilyDrenn YAY! I might go see Jones Vs. Evans, its in Atlanta.

and for ^ if you sent it in one big envelope, they might not think the teacher’s recommendation is legit, since it should come from them directly.

Anyone have checks for all their stuff but not have it say your application has been forwarded for review?

@LilyDrenn, Thanks for suggesting that and finding the email address. I really appreciate it. I am going to email them right now and do as you suggested.

I’m glad there are so many people on here that are so helpful with all of this. I’m from a Podunk farming village where a lot of people as well as those at my community college don’t even know what Cornell is. Therefore, I am so grateful for this community on CC.

my ****ing god, it seems like Cornell is run by angels!! i just called CAS, within seconds was transferred to somebody who looked at my application, told me my college report arrived and which section was missing and allowed me to explain why its actually complete lol so while i was on the phone she updated my self-service account!

thanks for the advice everyone! and also interesting how CC stars out any bad words.

anyone applying for architecture?

@hotel, call them about it. Cornell’s admissions are very nice, and if you call them and they have it, they will update it straight away.

I got a call from ILR today saying that one of the admissions counselors has questions about my application, and that they want to schedule a phone call to discuss them.

I had a pretty severe medical problem (I didn’t specify what it was in the app, but said that it required long term hospitalization) my senior year of high school, and it caused me to miss the entire fall semester and then finish up my remaining credits at a CC to graduate on time.

Do you think the questions will be about the medical problem? I don’t really want to have to go into that, as it’s quite personal :</p>

honestly, in the end i think its best to be honest with them. if there’s a chance that it will make or break the decision, you’d rather have an awkward moment in a private phone call. if it is a legitimate reason, they will understand.

^ Agreed, if you’re honest it will only help you toward your admission.
