@Chris1992 - I have to agree with qawsed, really don’t want to get my hopes up. I have some friends (boy and girl) who are freshmen pledging at Cornell right now and they absolute love it. I think it can be a lot of fun and not limit your academics at all if done right.

Also, I got my applicant ID today, so that’s good. However, it says that they haven’t received my payment yet (FAQs says it’s supposed to take 5-7 business days), so I can’t see any other parts of the application checklist. Once they process the payment I should be able to see what parts of my app they have, right?

@something12345 my status page shows that they have received my payment, and my application/supplement. However, it hasn’t said anything for the past week about other parts of my application, even though those have been in the mail for over a week. I have a feeling those parts won’t change till after the due date, since that’s when they’ll start really processing everything

here’s another quick thought/comment that might help you guys. I went up there last thanksgiving break and met a guy at a frat party who transferred as a junior. He applied to Arts and Sciences (from UNC), and later during decision time got a call from Cornell Admissions telling him that they can’t accept him for Arts and Sciences, but they could take him for HumEc. Just makes me feel good that they actually consider your record and how you would fit in in the other schools. worked out for him, since he cared the most about being accepted.

Hmmm, maybe you should call? Just to make sure that they have the parts. It’d be a real bummer if on March 1 they didn’t and you had to rush to get something to them.

yeah, maybe i should. let me know if on your guys’s it shows your recommendations or other paperwork as arrived. thanks

I inquired about this last week. You can check your application status on their website with your ID, but they don’t start processing transfer applications until march 1st. The only things that are actually due by march 1st are the common app (w/ supplement) and payment. If they need additional information after your application is processed, they will contact you. My status says they have everything except my mid-term report and final hs transcript.

So when you click on Check application status it has a checklist or something that shows what you’ve sent in and what they still need?

hmm. when i log in to check my application status check, i see that they’ve received my common app and my supplement, as well as my payment, but they haven’t received my letters of rec, college report or transcript.

Yes. The easiest way to get to it is to go to Cornell’s website, search “Application Status,” and log in using your ID and password. Click “Check Application Status” on the left side of the screen, and when you scroll down it presents you with a checklist.

Now, don’t panic if it says they haven’t received certain things. Like I said, I called admissions last week because I sent in my high school transcript in the beginning of January and it STILL says they haven’t received it. They said that’s normal, because they don’t begin processing transfer applicants until March 1st. They are swamped with RD Freshman applications, and those are processed first.

The only thing you need to worry about is submitting your Common App, Common App Supplement, and payment. These are sent electronically, unlike most other materials, so they won’t get lost in the mail. As long as you submit those materials by March 1st, you can continue submitting materials as needed. They will contact you if they’re missing anything.

Most of us will likely submit Midterm Reports after March 1st.

I actually submitted my application last fall (for Spring…but had it moved to Fall review) and it took a good 2-3 weeks for all of my application materials to show up as received. I wouldn’t worry too much about it just yet if things are still missing; they’re really good about contacting you, like Mlembo said, with any missing materials.

Hey guys I’m wondering what’s the policy for summer school if we’re accepted for the fall. I kinda want to get out ASAP, and if I get accepted for the fall will they let me come in during the summer to take a few classes. Also is there any financial aid available for that purpose as well???

A friend of mine was a recruited athlete for the fall of 2010. He took summer classes that year. I think the fafsa period is summer-spring. You should be able to take summer courses.

guys, how or whatd you do for you financial aid? my parents didn’t fill out their 2011 tax forms yet, what should I do. I know that I can use estimate for the CSS but what should I do for fafsa? whatd you do?

Can’t help with qawsed’s question - but I was wondering if anyone has called the admissions office about their forms? I sent some in a while ago but just sent in my common app/supplement a couple days ago so it says they don’t have my forms yet. Do you think I could call and ask if they have them and just haven’t processed them yet?

@something12345, not sure if you saw, but the status check page has a link to FAQ’s. It said on there that between october-march they are extremely swamped with processing papers so stuff wont show up as received immediately. they advised not calling within 2 weeks of sending paperwork by mail. I’m hoping some of mine will come in, but i might call as well if it gets closer to the deadline

Thanks Chris. I sent them in more than two weeks ago but I also just filled my common app on Sunday, so I’m guessing it takes time for them to process my forms now that they have my actual app.

@something12345, which school/major did you say you were applying to? and I’m just curious, but what’s your record like? you mentioned applying to all the top schools so I’m interested, if you don’t mind me asking

@qawsed: My parents haven’t filled out their 2011 tax return yet, either. I was told to simply update your FAFSA from last year, and give an estimate of your parents’ income. After they file their return, you can always go back in and adjust it. It is my understanding that the FAFSA period runs from Summer-Spring, so as long as you submit the proper information sometime this Spring, you should be fine.

@MLembo, thanks alot! I figured but its nice to get a confirmation.
