@TauTao, your numbers are definitely excellent. In terms of what you should focus on in your essays, be HONEST and MATURE about your reasons for transferring. And then for the supplement bring in your extracurriculars and what not to expand on why you want AEM. I personally wouldn’t put a future extracurricular down on my app, but I would mention it in the “additional information” section, definitely a good thing to have.

I am applying to department of Government, CAS, what do you think my chance?

Btw, are you applying to cornell this year?

I emailed someone in the CAS admissions office and they told me I could fax in the Instructor Evaluation and Mid-Term Report, though I have yet to do it. Has anyone else sent these in this way?

@Cornell33, If the CAS admissions office says that you can do it, I don’t see a problem at all. Although since it is well before the deadline, why don’t you just mail it?

Hey Tautao. Have you took all the requirements and recommendation courses?

Come on transfers lurking and reading this thread, I know you’re out there! Contribute and post stats and tell your stories!

i think i got all of them.

Hello SMRSMR,

My reason for bumping is because I posted my stats a few pages ago but no one gave them their opinion on what kind of chance I would have for Cornell as a sophomore transfer. I was just wondering if anyone could please chance me. Thanks.

Hey SMRSMR do you mind me asking how you know all of this? Just curious, I’m very impressed with your knowledge of it all.

@lelouch, as you know none of us can give you full on chances. What I can tell you is that your numbers are good; your H.S. and college GPA is great, and your ACT is in range for Cornell. What I can also tell you is that biology is a hard major to transfer into, and CAS is even harder. However if you write excellent convincing essays, you’re in the running. Try to capitalize on your relevant ECs, like research.

@Bathtubgin, I am no expert or anything, but I have read through the transfer site a lot and around the internet, and gathered some general opinions about the whole transfer process. Just here to help!

Thanks SMRSMR. Also wondering, is it true that the ILR is one of the easier school to transfer into?

I’m a freshman at Bryant University applying to transfer to Cornell ILR.

First semester GPA: 3.62/4.0
HS: 3.6/4.0
SATs: Not required, mine are low so I’m not sending them
ECs: 3 internships and the usual good stuff

What do you think my chances are??

Forgot to mention, essays are really good and I visited and met the associate director of admissions who seemed receptive and liked me

So I emailed about the midterm report. I told them that if I waited until I’d be able to include my midterm exam grades that it wouldn’t be until late March that I could send it off.

Their response:

“The Selection Committee would prefer having the Mid-Term Grade Report submitted as soon as it is complete. If the form cannot be completed until late March, that is completely understandable.”

@Bathtubgin, ILR is easier to transfer into than CAS, but still not “easy”. All of Cornell is difficult to get into. This site gives the profile for 2011. http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000156.pdf. Take the data with a grain of salt, because there are a lot of GTs in the mix, inflating the numbers.

@Neja, depends on what year you’re applying as; since you are applying as a sophomore transfer, your H.S. record will be seriously considered. However if you have compelling reasons to transfer and write great essays, you can give yourself a shot. The 3 internships will help.

@Nyjetsknicks, then you should do exactly that, as soon as possible either mail or fax over the document.

@Asganga, normal font (times new roman, calibri, arial, georgia) at like 11-12 size. 1.5 - double space. I think those are like the norms. Don’t need to do anything special.

hey guys. my dad will be filing taxes next week so I won’t be able to get his tax returns by march 1st. do you think it would be ok to just send in my taxes and my mom’s taxes for now and then send my dad’s once they are available? i tried calling them today but their offices were closed and I also emailed them but it takes 2-3 business days to respond so i was hoping someone here would know something.

@ yolocholo: The financial aid stuff is crazy! Are you an independent student? I am, and it was relatively easy except for the CSSProfile.

Anyone transferring with a guaranteed transfer option offered last year? I am trying o use my for CALS. Have met all requirements but waiting for interim grades. Know anything?

@HeartyBowl, same here. My parents haven’t done their 2012 taxes yet. But on the transfer aid application it says either 2011 or 2012 will work, can anyone confirm this for me?

@Zachary8, I think if you are a GT and you maintain the grade requirements and complete all the course requirements you are going to be in (as long as you confirmed you were going to accept the GT position). What major are you GT for?
